So cute and practical

This bowl is practical, stylish, and durable. After dropping and breaking our pets' previous ceramic water bowl, we decided to upgrade to something less fragile. We chose this Brave Bark because we liked the combo of a practical stainless steel bowl + attractive wooden shell.The design of the bowl is pretty cool. Super easy to refill and clean. The wooden outside is actually just a ring, and the stainless steel bowl rests inside, slightly lifted off the ground. The bowl itself is lightweight, and the wooden ring adds some weight to prevent it from sliding around. Since the wooden part has no bottom, we don't have to worry about it getting waterlogged if water splashes on the floor. (Our pets can be messy drinkers.)We initially purchased the Large size for water, and after using it for a week or so, we ordered another in Medium for food. The Large is great for water – it is 48 ounces, so it has required less frequent refilling than our old 32 oz bowl.Subtracting one star for the packaging, which left a sticky residue on both bowls we ordered. (See pics attached.) The wooden ring and steel bowl come taped together, with a paper label stuck on the bottom of the bowl. It took a bit of elbow grease to scrape off the leftover sticky bits from the tape, even after washing. Admittedly this is a minor criticism – it didn't deter us from ordering a second bowl – but it is a little annoying on an item designed for eating and drinking.

Overall the small bowl was poorly thought out, the wood casing was sloppy & the stainless bowl moved around in the casing which startled the dog every time he stuck his head in the bowl to eat, more thought should be put into it.

Our dog likes to flip her bowl. This bowl was a win, win. Heavy enough there is no more flipping!

Love this product. The stainless bowl is easy to remove and clean. The wood base is beautiful and well made. I specifically purchased this design for the open bottom. Splashed water just falls to the place-mat below and evaporates. Tried other stainless bowls that rested in acacia wood bowls, but abandoned them because they trap water between the bowls...damaging the wood.I got two sizes. One smaller for food, one larger for water. They look great side by side on top of the place mat.One note...if you have a skittish eater that is bothered by sound, this isn't the bowl for you. Our mini-schnauzer won't touch it because her tags jangle on the bowl and scare her off. Our other pup doesn't care about sounds and she seems to enjoy the exclusivity of the product.

I needed a larger water bowl for my cat and dog to share and the old one was too small. This looks nice but is heavy and awkward picking up and putting down. I have to use both hands. I wish it had a cut out so I could slip my hand underneath to lift it easier or finger grooves on the top to make lifting the insert easier. I don’t mind the open bottom that other reviews mentioned...it’s not noticeable and you don’t have to worry about the bottom getting wet when a certain four footed family member plays in it.

Why do some companies insist on putting labels/stickers on their products that won’t come off.The metal bowl has a huge sticker in the inside and it won’t come off. I’ve soaked it in water for two weeks, put it through two cycles in the dishwasher, and scraped it for about an hour.Now I have an ugly half scrapped off label on the inside of the bowl.It’s not necessary to put a sticker like this on a product and it ruins its appearance.
