Lisa GardnerThe Next Accident: An FBI Profiler Novel

The Always Good, Ms. Gardner, Is Good ++ Again.
There are some fine women writers of this genre, and Ms. Gardner is one of the best. She has yet to disappoint. Her first two books were so good, so unusual and intriguing; I've read them each 3 times. I have all her books, and admire her fine style and her ability to tell a very good story, one that always pulls me in. I am a FAN. This novel was worth every cent and more.

Can't Put it Down
Took a while to really get started but now that it has...I can't stop reading - yet I don't want it to end! This is "old school writing". It's not by accident (no pun intended) that this is an "older" release from the early 2000's. I'm an avid reader but, recently, I've found that I cannot find interesting books or writers (or their characters) that I wish to follow. Consequently, I've gone to the early writings that I might have missed from my "go to" authors. Glad that I did...this one is not disappointing...thoroughly enjoying the read.

Chilling Suspense with a Devious Psycopath!
This book scared the living daylights out of me. Not because it was full of graphic violence or gory scenes. It's the chilling suspense that just steadily creeps at you until you have to put it down and take a deep breath. Lisa Gardner has truly outdone herself in The Next Accident. The two lead characters from The Third Victim are brought back and we see how much and how little their relationship has developed. Pierce Quincy is still a special agent for the FBI and Rainie Conner is getting her life back together and opening up her own private investigating office. Quincy is confronted with a family tragedy when his oldest daughter who had seemly conquered a drinking problem is involved in a terrible accident that leaves her brain dead. When Quincy's ex-wife, Bethie agrees to take their daughter Amanda off life support you would think they would be able to get on with their lives. But for some reason Quincy can't believe the wreck was an accident. He goes to Rainie and hires her to investigate and perhaps open the door to continue their relationship. As Rainie begins to dig into the circumstances surrounding Amanda's wreck, she begins to unravel little details that don't make sense. Then Quincy begins to receive hundred of terrorizing calls from men that he has either put away in prison or from those who just plain hate the FBI. Someone has given out his personal phone number and address. In fact, someone is methodically assuming his identity and destroying his creditability. The killer is cunning and brilliant. He finds out everything about Quincy's life and those who are important to him. Then he selects his next victim. He stalks his victims learning every detail about their lives. He becomes whatever it is they desire. Unfortunately, what they desire often leads to death with the blame being laid at Quincy's feet. This is one nerve-racking book. The story line just flows, the suspense just keeps on building, and the characters are dynamic with well round emotions. If you love suspense, don't mind being scared, then this book should be right up your alley. I have to say, I love suspense and can usually figure out who the bad guys are by the middle of the book. Not this time. Ms. Gardner has written a fascinating tale of chilling suspense that had me guessing the entire time.

what will happen next
This is a page turner, never knowing what will happen next. The family is in trouble, who will die next before the person is caught!!

Keep your doors locked and outside lights on while reading this novel!
This is a fast read which is difficult to put down at night. This is now the fourth Lisa Gardner I have read in the last two months after picking one up on a whim, and this rates as one of the best. While her writing style can be confusing at times in some novels as each chapter jumps to a view from a different protagonist, this novel provide the most clear, easy-to-follow transitions. I am now hooked and this will not be my last novel from Ms. Gardner

He wants to play games...
Amanda Quincy was a recovering alcoholic, attending AA. So what is she doing drunk, behind the wheel of a car on a winding road, going too fast, not wearing a seatbelt. And who is the man in the passenger seat, urging her to go faster as he grips the steering wheel. That begins the cat and mouse game of someone with a grudge against Pierce Quincy, FBI profiler. Amanda is his daughter. Who is trying to get inside the head of Pierce Quincy. The list of suspects seems to grow by two every time one is removed. Lorraine "Rainie" Connor is back with a PI license and a desire to help Pierce Quincy, as well as a desire for him.Lisa Gardner does it again. I couldn't flip the pages fast enough.

Enthralling & suspenful!!
I absolutely loved the story! Ms Lisa has got me hooked with these characters now. Can't wait to read the next story. Agent Pierce just makes one want to "knock him upside his head"when he constantly misses the emotional needs of his loved ones, his beautiful daughters,a lovely but lonely ex-wife and his new love! The antagonist was so clever to use Quincy's own strengths to weaken him but he soon learns that a psychopath has his own weaknesses too. I loved the "biting my nails" and "'holding my breath" moments when these two meet! Now waiting to see what new troubles follow Quincy & his new partner Rainie!

Gripping
Lisa Gardner is such a great writer. It would be a good idea to understand the back story of the 2 main characters by reading previous books but it was so gripping

Consigliato per le letture in lingua
Bella storia, per chi ama cimentarsi in letture in lingua. La narrazione è scorrevole e in un inglese senza slang...

fortunately ms gardner has not yet gone the way of some (notice i say 'some') prolific writers whose books use larger font, have smaller paragraphs with dead space between, and, more importantly, whose story lines become too formulaic....not so ms gardner...her recent novel still has the suspense and surprise of her first....any questions i ask myself re: believability of plot are answered within pages....i love that she doesn't leave the reader hanging for long between moments of suspense...a great read...enjoy (if that's appropriate for recommending a murder mystery!)
