Work Smart Business Is For Me and You
Anyone that wants to start a business, or is failing at business, or wants to raise their income level in business, should read Work Smart Business.Years ago I started a Sign Language Interpreting business with just me, myself, and I. Sure in school they taught us how to do that. But I floundered every day "wanting" success, but not taking much action to make it happen. Or so I thought over time. After reading Jason's book, "Work Smart Business", I now can see a few actions that I did to keep me busy in that career. I woke up every day depressed and dreading my life. I only got a little ways off the ground because of my mental thoughts and incomplete actions. I was too busy to do the right actions, lacked the training to know the difference, and not busy enough to make the kind of money I needed. Eventually I switched to Computer Programming when I found my second path in the woods. Now I'm ready for my third and I'm using Jason's work to help me set the mental foundations for success.Jason has taken so much of the guess work out of the equation of Work Smart Business success. As Zig Ziglar used to teach, mindset is everything. Jason has simplified and distilled how to mentally approach business creation in a way that even my analytical TOGAF Certified IT Architect mind loves, but more importantly I understand it in ways that others never got through to me.I've read this as a Kindle book and I can't wait to get my hands on the audio version so that I can hear it in Jason's own voice. I also plan to get the print version too because I need to consume knowledge thought my eyes, ears, and hands. Maybe you have that experience too with learning? (And Jason, when does the movie come out. Wink)So where do I go from here with this knowledge? Well I've read this book once and I plan to re-read it multiple times. I know I'll keep seeing things over time that I missed in my first go around. It's trumped the stack of other important books in my office to read. Next I plan to start practicing these principles in my current job. And I plan to start laying the ground work for my retirement. My favorite chapter in this book is about printing your own money. No not in a Dark Net kind of way. You really should discover for yourself just how many assets that you have, or could create, that will let you run a campaign to "print your own money". And as you discover what to do with your assets, though reading this book, you might notice how easily Jason has laid out the Work Smart Principles in a way that is easy to understand and enjoyable to read. This book is full of real life examples of success that illustrates the principle being explained. I found I kept being happy and smiling while reading this book because I felt like I was live right there looking over Jason's shoulder when he tells his stories of struggles and success.Do I think you should read this? Yes!

If you only read one book this year, this is the one!
First of all I want to say Thank You to Jason for writing this book! Jason has an easy way of writing that makes it a pleasure to read. He offers lots of knowledge but in a story telling kind of way, including stories of his own struggles and his learning curve through all of this. I found myself smiling a lot and getting some of those wonderful Ah-Ha moments! Even though this is 'teaching' book, it is one of those that you just don't want to stop reading. I have the kindle version and have been glued to this book, every chance I had, even if it was to read a few pages in between dong other tasks, I just couldn't wait to get back to it.I'm not going to go over different aspects of this book, as many of the above reviews have already done a wonderful job. I will however comment on the Work Smart Action Steps--They are a must do! I chose to read all the way through the book one time first, now I am going to start reading it again and implementing the action steps this time as I go back through the book one step at a time! This book couldn't have come along at a better time, as I have just made a career change and am just getting started in my new business.I can't Thank Jason enough! If you are struggling in your business, just getting started or want to vamp up, you owe it to yourself to read this book! Are you wondering if you should read this book, my answer is a deffinite "YES"! I know that I will be re-reading this book more than once, because no matter how dilligent you are, you are going to miss something, or something different will stand out each time.

Changing my entire approach to marketing! Long live the Oxymoron
I found myself not only highlighting text in #jason_linett's book, but also started taking notes on my iPhone's Notes throughout the book as well (his suggestion, btw). I did not finish the book until last night (Sat 1/26/19) and now I get to enjoy integrating all that I learned, researching what I didn't groc at first, and applying a new approach (to marketing, to life, to much more) to my practice.A friend recommended the book, which is how I ended up ordering it. The book got better and better the further along I read. By the chapter on "Harness Lead Generation", I learned a new approach to how and why leads need to be generated, and what I can now change to make more of them. I am an Accountant. I don't sell widgets that can sell themselves, I don't sell. I provide services, which meant that I found many marketing/networking/sales books and workshops useless. They did not account for maintaining a relationship with the customer. Just, wham, bam, "Get the money Sam!!" I read much of the beginning of the book with this skepticism, but something told me to keep reading. In the past, marketing has been my professional challenge. One definition of an oxymoron is an Accountant who loves marketing! That used to be a joke, and now it is a goal of mine. "Work Smart Business" is inspiring me not only to become an accounting & marketing oxymoron, but an account & marketing oxymoron guru, and teach folks in service industries how to build relationships while building leads. This inspiration came later in the book. [...just beginning...still working on it....let you know how it goes later....]I struck gold when I hit the "Work Smart Strategies". Every chapter has transformation, NO!, I mean, information that I am now looking to integrate, step by step, into my practice. There is too much to learn, grow, integrate, etc. to take in and apply it all in one day or one week (or longer). Integrating this information is now part of my journey, just like running an accounting firm is, and running triathlons (you think accounting+marketing is an oxymoron, I have successfully and joyfully finished more triathlons weighing about 290lbs, and THAT'S an oxymoron!)(maybe I am already an oxymoron just trying to spread my wings...).The fun part is that his principles apply not only to my business, but also to my body (weight, triathlon, and more). This is a business book [yeah, right...] but it does not take much to see his techniques can change any aspect of my life that I want to! His "Reframing" chapter [p-o-w-e-r-f-u-l] was immediately applicable and showed me how challenges (un-reframed: hurts and other nasties) helped me become the dynamic, creative (but legal) accountant that I am. I could not put the book down until I finished it because I knew there was more to it....and I had to laugh. When you read it, he emulates Rachel Maddow in giving a hint about something only to make you think it will come in her next segment (his next chapter). I smiled every time I encountered it, and the wait was worth it. You have to read the book to find this out. You are evil Mr. Linett, and enjoyed every step of the path you lead me down! <LOL>I will say that the "Work Smart Principles" frequently read a lot like Tim Ferriss's "The 4-Hour Work Week, or those endless animated YouTube teasers that hold you captive (without control buttons) for 18 minutes or more only to get a real disappointment at the end. The thing with Linett's book is that you really have to read on, just read through it because in the end of each section, and within the sections, he gives you so much valuable information, inspiration, and ideas to apply. This book is turning the dread of developing a marketing plan into excitement.Enough out of this oxymoron of a tri-sport bean counter.Michael O'HanlanFalls Church, VA

Many practical lessons in every chapter.
Here are some of my favourites: - “Compile a list of the “reasons” you may have been persuading yourself as to why you can’t achieve a certain outcome. Let your creative mind have some fun considering all the alternatives in which these potential conflicts can become your best motivators. Let yourself truly discover that the logic works in both directions, and let the better mindset take hold.” (Quoted directly from the book. Love this one.) - Instead of complaining “That won’t work” asking, “How can I make that work even better?” - Recognizing the assets in your life and business to leverage for greater impact. For example, ensuring that any time you speak before an audience you video record it. Now you can “speak” to anyone who wasn’t able to attend the event. You could even sell that video. - How discounting can backfire. - “Be the expert, not the vendor.” - There’s only one thing you need to sell to be a success in business. (This was my key light bulb moment. Brilliant.)Jason has a quirky sense of humour and seems to write as he speaks. This leads to some out of left field topic changes that may have you rereading passages to better follow his train of thought. But that’s a small criticism and takes nothing away from the valuable lessons he shares.A good, solid read.

A must read if you want to succeed!
As someone just getting started in business, I’ve read a few business books, or at least started reading a few business books never to actually Finnish. The difference with WORK SMART BUSINESS, for me is that Jason makes it all seem much more achievable. He explains it all in simple terms and also gives examples and details of his own real life experiences using the strategies and techniques in the book to build his own successful business, like the “serial killer strategy” for brainstorming ideas for projects is superb. But I could have picked any chapter in this book and given many examples of strategies and techniques of value. WORK SMART BUSINESS is a brilliant guide for anyone looking to start in business or scale up and improve your existing business using tried and tested modern strategies and techniques. This is my new business guide. And I did finished this one.Fantastic!
