The braid on this is so thin, that when pressure is applied, it simply separates and loses it's tightness in the weave, therefore losing it's ability to wick properly. I bought 6 of them and in the trash they go. Also, they copper does not seem to wick properly, even when you manage to get it's weave to stay tight. Never again.

Great traditional solder wick. Absorbs molten solder quickly and easily. There's a technique to using solder wick that definitely enhances its ability to absorb solder from a connection, especially on a circuit card. The addition of liquid flux and sometimes lightly re-soldering the connection is a definite help sometimes. Personally, based on my 35+ years of experience as a technician, this works perfect!

Tried and tried. Found an old radio shack piece of solderwick lying around and it sucked up the solder like a hoover :) In the garbage they go.

apart from what it was intended to be used forit makes an excellent braid to connect a brush to a brush holderi used the 2.5mm with a 9/32" od compression spring, to make contact with the brush and brush holder contact so that the current would not have to use the spring to complete the circuit, possibly heating the spring with loss of tension.works very well for that purpose and likely many others.

This solder wick does the job really well and I loved being able to get a bunch of it at once. I was even able to give one spool away to a friend in need without worrying about the cost to replace it.

Very good at sucking up solder on todays small electronic circuits. I had to add some acid to the braid for some places that didn't want to transfer once it was liquid, but it wasn't a real problem.

you will need to add flux to the braid or it won't suck up the solder.
