This charger overheated during the first road trip I took after purchasing the charger. I was charging my Nexus 5X while using Google Maps for directions. My wife noticed smoke coming from my phone so I unplugged the phone from the charger. 15-30 minutes after I unplugged the phone from the charger, I noticed more smoke coming from inside of my vehicle. The type c end of the charger melted the rubber mat in my vehicle. The charger was still plugged into car so I removed it from the cigarette lighter receptacle and it eventually cooled down. I am returning this defective charger.

I really like this charger. It fits snugly in the power outlet in my car and has a sleek appearance. I also like that it has a regular USB port in addition to the USB-C cord to charge my Google Nexus 5X phone. I have not experienced any of the overheating issues mentioned here in other reviews.I originally purchased this item in September 2016. Unfortunately, in February 2017, the USB-C portion of the charger simply stopped working, although the standard USB (Type A) port still worked. I contacted the seller and they immediately provided a discount code so I could order a replacement from Amazon for free. No hassle, no questions asked. I really appreciated the quick and friendly service.I feel I should deduct one star because the original charger quit working, but I am still giving it a 4-star rating thanks to Eleckey's excellent service.

So two days ago I got in my car and went to grab this charger but it had smoke pouring out of it. I immediately unplugged it and threw it out. I am not sure why it would have smoke coming out of it. I haven't ever had an issue with any car charger before in my life. I was scared and my car was filled with smoke. I cant return it since I bought it a while ago but I would steer clear of this charger.

I've been using this car charger since March 2016 for my Nexus 6P. I keep it plugged into the cigarette lighter even when I'm not using it and haven't had a problem with overheating or anything. The charger works fine and does have quick-charging for the Nexus 6P. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because the cable end does not fit snugly into the charging port on my phone. Therefore, the cable will literally fall out of the plug at times and it's rather annoying. I have no idea if this would be a problem with a different phone other than the Nexus 6P. However, I would not purchase this product again due to that inconvenience.

After 5 months of perfect performance, tonight I plugged my Nexus 5x into this charger and it immediately started smoking, smelling of burned electronics. I instantly disconnected it from the lighter port of my car, but the plug fused with my (less than 7 months old) phone port. Once I finally disconnected the cord from my phone plug, I could still smell burning and investigated the charging port, only to find it totally fried the charging port, rendering my phone completely unchargable. The Nexus is now no longer available (except after market), so this $15 cord cost me a $350 irreplacable phone in about 4 seconds. DO NOT BUY! :(

Charged very quickly and loved having an extra USB port for "legacy" support. Smelled electric fire and aw smoke billowing from my console. Charger caught fire! Glad I was driving when it happened, DONT LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN WHEN NOT AROUND!

Hopefully a fluke... But it broke after two weeks. Stopped charging phone from attached cordEdit:Eleckey did reach out to me and sent me a free replacement! Excellent customer service always goes along way for me. New Charger is working great!

I've owned this charger about 18 months. Today, upon plugging in my phone, the cable fried itself at the phone connection (see photos). The cable melted the connector's internal connection and the phone will no longer take a charge from other chargers. My expensive Google Pixel XL phone is officially a brick. Avoid this cable and supplier
