Mishimoto MMCFK-F2D-03BL Coolant Filter Kit, Compatible with Ford Powerstroke 6.0L, 2003-2007, Blue

I run the XDP coolant filtration system on my other 6.0 and figured I'd give these guys a shot. Super easy to install and I have yet to have a leak unlike some reviewers. Make sure you apply thread tape to your fittings before you install them into the filter base. If not you WILL get leaks. My favorite feature of this system is the molded "T" hose. I also like the fact that they provide you with silicone hose clamps instead of regular clamps. I definitely recommend this to anybody with a 6.0 powerstroke.

I ended up trimming the hose going to the heater hose to make it tuck in a little more factory looking. My kit didn't come with instructions. I had to look them up on their website. Not a huge deal but they still aren't the best. All in all it seems like it will do it's job. I have 250k on my 6.0 excursion and want to do some things to ensure it lasts another 250k. This seems like a common sense upgrade.

Great kit & I had no issues or any trimming needed. I got my coat on and two pairs of socks 🤣 & went at it this morning in 30 degrees. I drained about 7-8 quarts of antifreeze & had nothing leak out of the heater hose that needed removed. Already had a New egr & oil cooler installed so I flushed the radiator several times & filled it with elc coolant. After running your truck/van several times check your fill level & make sure to not go above the fill line as your tank needs this air pressure space for expansion. This filter system should assist in preventing clogging & keep your radiator in service for longer. I love 💖 my 6.0.... did I just say that out loud.Update November 2021: Before I installed this kit I drained then added water, ran it down the road to open up thermostat, went home to drain. I did this 4-5 times to purge the old antifreeze & crud out. Then added the HD ELC Coolant & this filter kit. I ran this first filter 8,918 miles & you see how clean the filter turned out. I was surprised it was so clean myself but now that I know I'll run this filter 15,000 miles easy! Mind you this truck has 90,000 miles on it when I took this filter off to replace it. If you truck has like 100k more miles & unknown maintenance it very well may not come out this clean.

Works like it should. High quality. Wish the turn off valves locked. They turn pretty easy to the off position. Not a deal breaker though.

I have installed at least a couple dozen of these on customers and my personal trucks.Best bypass setup on the market. All the cheap eBay or sinister style ones are garbage because the leak at the ball valves, after having several of the cheap style ball valves leak, I upgraded to the Mishimoto setup and have not has a single issue. It’s worth the price and really a decent valve for what you get to include the silicone hoses. The cheap kits also leak the T section because the cheap crimps leak and cannot be fixed, don’t have to worry about that with the Mishimoto one because it’s a seamless design. They also include quality hose clamps that won’t blow apart like cheap ones from harbor freight.

Very easy to install. All you will need are some basic hand tools. I would recommend installing after a coolant flush if installed on a 6.0. Used the included WIX filter (I recommend to purchase an additional filter) and ran it for about a month at which time I added the replacement. I wasn't sure if it had do e anything as I had thoroughly flushed the system. prior to changing the oil cooler. I cut into the old filter and was amazed by the amount of crud it had trapped. It seems to be a well built system and much less expensive than some other brands out there. Cheap additional insurance for the Powerstroke.

Shut off valves do not open to closed , open. Easy to bump valve lever and shut off coolant unknown. Positioned valves to open and removed lever untill time to service. Other wise awesome product

Easy to install. Have to go to Mishimoto web site for installation instructions, since none come with the item. Plus, a few others commented about removing about 3 inches from the heater core return hose, which must be done. I took some photos on how I routed the hose and clamped them, since there was no mention in the instructions. I used 3/4 inch clamps on hoses and 1/2 inch clamp on the battery negative cable. Some might route it differently, but it is double insulated with clamp rubber and cable coating on the negative cable. I also clamped the return hose to the shroud, so that return hose will be secure. Drill small hole in shroud and use a very small self tapping screw.By the way, someone complained about the screws rusting quickly, so I primed and paint the screws red, holding to support assembly for the filter itself.

For an inexpensive by-pass filter system the price (always much more in Canada, eh?) was reasonable. The fit was flawless. Quality of materials above average. Took me about 45 minutes to install (as they said). The second one would take 15 minutes. The installation instruction set at the website could use some better graphics. Deserves 6 stars!
