I wouldn't usually wax poetic about a pair of tongs (or a pair of pairs, in this case) but these have an entirely different feel to them than the ones I'm replacing. They're heavy (in a good way) and well-aligned so they'll pick up small things as well as large. The locking mechanism is simple once you get used to it--point the tongs down and close them, and the lock slides in; point them up and the lock slides out. I'm sure I'll struggle with this a bit at first but if it gets to be annoying I can cut off the locking pin.

The clips used to lock the tongs can fall down if you point them downward as you're grabbing something. Minor inconvenience. However, I wanted to find flat metal tongs like these and these work great for grilling.

I wouldn't have thought there would be much to say about tongs, but these are really great. The opening/locking mechanism is perfectly designed to keep them from springing open or closing down at the wrong times. They are sturdy. The inside ridges are easy to clean as they are not too deep. I plan to get some for my friends and family who love great kitchen gadgets.

I love these! Have had them for a few weeks and they are a great addition to my kitchen! Very versatile. Wash well. Great quality!Update - all is well, the key is the one handed operation, changing these from open to closed and locked is operated by gravity. A simple rotation of the wrist. Briliant!

These are great and sturdy. Only thing is the release is too loose so it locks back up when held a certain way.

The UMME Tongs are the best quality I have found. It is so easy to turn the food over in the fry pan without the breading falling off or breaking. The price was very frugal. I highly recommend these tongs.

These are both very well made stainless steel heavy tongs which operate easily. Very happy with this selection. Equal or better quality than some of the "name brand" tongs and a much better value. BUY THESE!!!

Small tongs opened easily but large tongs were extremely hard to open. The little tab to pull up and push down to open and close the tongs was nearly impossible for me to open. I had to ask a guy to try and open them for me and he could barely pull up the tab too. It hurt my hand to try and open it.
