SHAMAN KING Omnibus 1 (Vol. 1-3)

it came super fast and has a great story no damage at all kids love it and cant wait for book 2 if ur looking for a comedy action manga this is amazing!! also heads up the 3 books are combined into 1 :)

Goes beyond a simple omnibus. They did an excellent job at remaking the Shaman King manga in English. This is leagues better than the old Shonen Jump version. As well as a great price for 3 volumes. No to mention, the quality is great (those spine designs are fantastic).

Shaman King was always one of my favorites in Shonen Jump when I️ was a kid, so when I️ saw that it was finally available through the new publisher as an omnibus, I️ hopped on it! The book itself is essentially the same quality you’d expect from a single manga volume, which is great, as I️ half expected a lower quality due to format. If you’re on the fence, get it! Whether it’s to experience some nostalgia, or to start a new adventure. Can’t wait for the rest to be released.

I started reading this manga many many years ago as a boy when Shonen Jump was being translated in America. I loved it, but was unable to continue the series. I was made aware of this rerelease and wanted to see if it held up. My opinion on the story is irrelevant (-but for the record, I still like it and I love the unique artstyle of the series).I want to talk about the book itself. I noticed some reviews and pictures saying that the art on some pages had been misaligned and was cropped off in the printing process. I was concerned about this, but my copy had no such issues. Hopefully the publisher has generally corrected that issue.I think this book is a great option if you intend to READ and use the book, but maybe not for the collectors or people who care about keeping their books pristine. The binding is very thin, and due to the page count, it becomes difficult to read without adding at least minor wear on the spine. The weak spin also doesn't help the book maintain it's shape, so it's subject to shelf-wear and corner damage. None of this bothers me since I intended just to read and reference it, but I know this is important information to some.While I don't speak Japanese, there are certain lines in the translation that seem oddly "modern American." I've watched enough anime and read enough manga that you get some kind of sense for the culture. When Western buzzwords come into play, it sets off a redflag for me. Some things don't translate well, and some "close enough" translations can change the tone/intent of the scene or characters. This is a nitpick for me, and there was really only one glaring example - but worth mentioning. I don't feel it's a bad translation, or at least it doesn't seem that way. The localization on things like signs and etc was done well enough. Usually I prefer the art not be altered in any way (and annotations around the panel be added instead), but they did a clean enough job and at least tried to stylize the text to match the visual style of the manga.Positives: The printing looks great. High quality pages. Fun story. Great way to catch up.Negatives: Fragile spine.I'm very glad they decided to rerelease this after so many years. Check it out!

This book is an amazing start to an amazing series I recommend completely.

Great omnibus Ed. Has some redrawn panels (which can be very obvious/jarring at times). Includes bonus shorts and a glossary of historic and cultural references in the back.

I love this series and I am SO happy to see these rereleases with updated art. Additionally, they’ve been improved upon from the digital copies available on comiXology, which is great to see. This version is much improved upon the releases from VIZ and well worth the price.

story started a bit slow, took me a few weeks to really sit and read it. after getting further into it i had a hard time putting it down. should buy if you’re questioning the purchase i would say go for it!

Meu volume chegou apenas 4 dias após o lançamento, mesmo sendo um livro importado. Estou muito feliz com a minha compra e estarei aguardando os próximos volumes, adorei! A qualidade do mangá também é muito boa, as páginas são até que grossas (tanto é que em alguns momentos pensei estar virando duas páginas ao invés de uma). Senti falta dos comentários do autor que tinha em outras versões, mas quanto a isso tudo bem. Ele também é maior/mais alto em relação ao original publicado no Brasil, mas senti que era pequeno em comparação aos Omnibus lançados pela Viz. Me lembra um pouco uma versão de bolso de um livro extenso. De qualquer forma, ótima versão, estarei esperando os próximos volumes.

I only started watching the anime so I decided to read the manga and it really great characters are so interesting there never a dull moment with them

This was the first manga I have ever read more than 10 years ago and when I've started my first job I started to wonder if I can buy the volumes from somewhere. Between missing volumes and high prices, I didn't manage to get them, but hopefully, this will change.As for the manga - it's a great entry into the manga world. Great story, beautiful art, and a lot different to the anime from 2001(at the time of writing a reboot has just started, which promises to cover all of the manga).
