Jonah and the Whale (Storytime Lap Books)

Finally a book that is so sturdy that my one year old hasn't figured out how to bend in half yet and snap the pages!

I have bought several DK books for my grandchildren. We love the art work and storyline that remains close to the original. I paid much more for Jonah and the Whale than any of the others I have bought and was very disappointed in the condition of the book I received. (I ordered 2 and have only received one.) The front of the book is scratched and one of the interior pages has what looks like moisture damage. Besides the damage, I don't know what justified this book costing double what the others I purchased previously have cost.

Great quality book, but this one page is a little redundant.

"Jonah and the Whale" has a great story by C. J. Leonard that is Biblically accurate and easy for a toddler to understand. Giuseppe Di Lenia's illustrations are bright and beautiful and in color throughout. (There are not any black-and-white illustrations.) The typed words on each page are very large and easy to read. The pages themselves are composed of very thick cardboard that a child can't accidentally rip apart.The book doesn't have a dust jacket, which is fine. Its front cover is beautifully illustrated; it doesn't need a dust jacket. Furthermore, in the hands of a child, a dust jacket can become easily torn or even lost. The main theme of "Jonah and the Whale" is forgiveness: Learning that God forgives us and we, likewise, need to forgive each other and ourselves. "Jonah and the Whale" makes a wonderful gift for a toddler who is learning about the Bible.

I got this for my son, and it's a go-to for bedtime stories. The art inside really is fantastic, and definitely deserves a mention. The story is well written and clearly told so that I'm not stuck spending forever explaining words to him. The cover and pages and high quality paper, and won't wear or rip super easily. This would make an excellent gift for a child, at least it did for mine.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a review of the Jonah and the Whale board book.This nicely put together board book is targeted to children ages 3-5. The pages are quite thick and board books are excellent choices for very young children since the pages are thick and sturdy making it last much longer than a simple paper book. The colorful and beautifully drawn illustrations will capture the interest of your child. The story of Jonah and the Whale jumps off the pages in this version. Nicely done.
