the retaining hook setup could be better, it keeps interfering with operation of the shears. I took it off. Otherwise very sharp and works well. Would give a 4.5 star, but rounded up to 5.

My grandmother used these shears for garden bed edging and these were the first cutting tools I was taught to use when I was old enough to be trusted with sharp garden tools. They come well oiled in a snap closure plastic sheath and a hard plastic tip protection. They're sharp and the cutting action is precise and perfectly lined up. I'm really happy with them and expect them to last for years.

This year I planted an herb garden and a vegetable garden. I bought these for use harvesting herbs and cutting lettuce. They are perfect for the job. They aren't fancy, but they are easy to use and as sharp as they need to be to get the job done. It's nice have a pair of cutting tools that are dedicated solely to the herbs and veggies.
