Westering Women: A Novel

Engaging
This is the kind of book that makes the reader want to see what happens beyond the end of the book. The struggles and twists and turns of people described in a well written story of another era will capture your interest and have you looking for more.A page turner and hard to put down.

Ladies west
This book is about a group of 1850s desperate(some more than others) women agreeing to help two ministers and one's wife take a wagon train of them to the California gold fields as wives for the miners. The story details several of their hardships and disasters along the way.To add even more drama, therefore who fears she may have murdered someone, and at least another who is petrified of being murdered if caught. All things considered,I enjoyed the book very much.It deciding fly is not all rosy and happy ever after reading, but is kind of a testament to the human spirit and perseverance.

Intriguing
I, too, am entranced by the Confirmation of the Overland Trail, The testing of true inner spirit which the trail provided and I always ask myself, "would I have survived?". What diseases me is that the author does not acknowledge, or perhaps I missed it, the fact that this story was told in the 1940-1950's in a movie called, "Westward the Women". Exact same scenarios, without a few additions of the novel, yet I could not help but see the scenes of the movie as I read the book.

What a wonderful surprise this book is.
I had never read a book about the westward movement of the pioneers. This author really knows how to write a book without repeating and repeating. I look forward to t reading More of her books.I just love this book.Thank you Sandra for writing such a great book. From The beginning this book caught my attention.

Very good
Sandra Dallas is one of my top three authors. I have to admit that by the last four chapters I had had enough of the heartbreak. I skimmed through the last 30 minutes. I’m also a bleeding-heart animal lover and with each animal death description I become a little sadder. The description is probably exactly what happened to the Overland Trail travelers, but for myself, I could have done with a bit more fiction. Still, another Sandra Dallas book that I couldn’t put down.

Great book! But...
I absolutely love well written books set in this era. More so, even, when they are focused on the Oregon or California Trail. The main characters must be women. I'm not very keen on reading the macho male stuff. This book checked all my boxes, so was worth it's price to me (I usually stick with Kindle Unlimited picks because I read so much). It was definitely professionally written. Great pacing, character development, and syntax. No irritating bad spelling or holes in the plot or other amateur mistakes. Despite having several key characters, keeping them straight was effortless. They each had distinct and interesting personalities.I've read many books set in this era about the trails west, so I have a good idea when a book is historically accurate. This one was. It was accurate in its social history as well, even the language,. Well, mostly. Books written too much in the vernacular of that time period are difficult to read. Sandra Dallas kept accuracy in the dialogue, but wrote the descriptive text and story telling in an easier to read manner. Here is my "Great book! but.." explanation:But it was way too predictable at times. I predicted each death along the trail. Each one. There were a couple of surprises, but only a couple. It would have been more enjoyable for me if I could have been surprised by turn of events. The book was so well written, and the characters so likable, that I couldn't deduct any stars for predictability.Highly recommend.
