Cute, 12 1/2 pans of gorgeous colors, perfect size to fit in your pocket and incredibly affordable.
I am not an artist, just a student who loves painting with watercolors. I have used many terrific W/C paints and have spent a fortune on top quality watercolor paints to the inexpensive. I keep coming back to the Jerry Q paint sets. I love these paints and have them in every size set they come in. Their colors are beautiful and mix beautifully together for a plethora of gorgeous colors without getting muddy. You get a lot of bang for your buck with each size set you choose.I received this new small 12, 1/2 pan set today and I am thrilled. I love the small case with 12 1/2 pans and even happier with the selection of colors they chose in this wonderfully portable set. Jerry Q paints have put a lot of thought into each set and this 12 pan set has every color you need to create your own colors if it isn’t already there. The colors that come in this set are perfect on their own so no need to worry it you are not comfortable mixing colors, but for the price, I say go for it. It’s so well priced and put together so well, it is a great place to learn about color and using watercolors. This 12 piece set is small, fun and you can take it anywhere. It also comes with a small paint brush but I just used a water pen and I have been painting all afternoon.I don’t have anything I’m not happy about with this set or any of their sets. I will tell you that the 1/2 pans in this set are a little smaller so you can’t trade out other 1/2 pan colors, even within Jerry Q’s other sets... too large so keep the “empty” pan containers and you can make your own with tube paints. I would guess these are a student grade so I don’t know about their lightfast ability. If you are worried about that, just keep your masterpieces in an art pad or art book with really good watercolor paper where they won’t fade over time.Have fun. These are terrific paints and this 12 pan set is a no brained. Cute, incredibly easy to take anywhere, the colors are just beautiful, creamy, easy and fun to use and they are only about 6 dollars for this set.Enjoy!

Great paint set for the price...
For the price this gets 5 stars from me. I like the colors, they mix well, don't appear muddy. On some paper there was some chalkiness, on other paper there was not. I find them more opaque but can be transparent with more water. They are very vibrant and I enjoy using them. For a very very inexpensive set I like them a lot. I have other very nice watercolor paints; Kuretake, Sakura Koi, Russian Sonnet, Mijello Mission Gold, and some others which I love. But again, for an inexpensive set this is very usable. The brush holds a very nice point and moves well, it seems securely made and I like it so far. I prefer my Black Velvets, Da Vincis, Escodas, and Raphaels, but this is the only brush I've gotten in an inexpensive little set that I feel is worth using and I like it very much.*The black paint will, after dried, rub off of the paper onto fingers and things so heads up on that. But it doesn't seem to when I mix it with other colors in the set.*The little pans will fall right out if tipped but sticky reusable glue dots fix that just fine. Also, the lid shuts securely and the mixing spaces are surprisingly sufficient for the set's size. And, the pans are reusable and if the brush holds out over time it will make a refillable little set for whatever paints I want. The plastic box isn't the most fantastic plastic but if it's not thrown or handled roughly it should hold up fine... again, especially for the price. Overall I'd buy again and like it very much.

A really nice set. What a buy.
This set is perfect for travel. I have already used them in the woods, on a hike, for Plein air painting. The brush is a quality small brush and is perfect for a small sketch. You could spend a lot more, but I sincerely doubt the quality of the paint and case would be any better. I am very pleased with this purchase and will recommend this set to my students. The 12 color choices are excellent.

Cute, portable starter set
This cute little set was the perfect gift to include in a "starter art journal kit" I made for a friend who is beginning the creative journey. Perfectly portable, lightweight, and the quality is good for a student/beginning watercolorist. Fits neatly in a small pouch with a little journal and some pens for on-the-go creativity. She loved it!

Vibrant, better quality than others that are twice the price, super portable!
I’m a very BIG fan of this brand. I’m a homeschool mama to 4 and we do a TON of illustrations with watercolor. My 12 year old and my 3 year old both use these. They are inexpensive but in my opinion are better quality, richer, and longer lasting than any other watercolor we’ve tried (and we’ve tried a lot!) highly recommend! Oh and I LOVE this tiny travel set. Perfect for on the go nature study and your next adventure.

Great for Beginners & Experienced Artists Alike
I bought about 20 of these sets for an adult art small group and everyone loves them. Some were beginners and some are experienced artists and there have been no complaints. The set is small and light enough to fit anywhere - even a pocket. The colors are vivid and you can really get a bright, opaque paint if you want. The brush is easy to open and works fine. The lid has compartments for mixing colors. For $8.99, what's not to like?

Better than expected!
Pleasantly surprised with how these watercolors worked! I swatched them thick and of course watercolors are not meant to be used like gouache - they were streaky, but vibrant. The colors do lift well, though. And when used as they were meant to, they were beautiful and delicate. Very pleased!

A terrific bargain and includes good quality paints
This watercolor kit is comparable to the Winsor Newton Cotman field box but better designed (more mixing areas) and comes with a better brush. Lower sides plus the fact that it lies flat makes it easier to clip to a watercolor sketchbook.
