Kinda Funky
I've been a die-hard Ursula fan ever since "Kinda Kinky" - I still recommend it to friends as one of the most perfect albums, although all subsequent albums from U1000 have also been incredible. His ability to fuse retro with modern soundscapes never ceases to amaze me and I just cannot get enough."Voyeur" proves to be another flawless production, although perhaps it is less clearly themed a some of the other albums. All tracks showcase U1000's famous funky beats that are a mixture of lounge and hip-hop, but while some sound like modern translations of 70s funk pop, others are Latin-infused beach jams. Others are less clearly defined. Having a less distinct theme does not make this album less enjoyable, however. Each track slides easily into the next and you will not want to skip any. If I had to pick a top 3 I guess I would go with "Balerix" "Dancing Underground" and "Blast Off" although I really do love them all. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer! :)

Sounds like Ursula 1000 is going back to his earlier stuff
I have always liked Ursula 1000 and would play a track off of Kinda Kinky' every show when I worked as a radio DJ. The last couple of albums he put out were a departure from what I was used to, but I still listened to it and liked a few of the tracks.Voyeur, to me, sounds more like his earlier stuff and I haven't taken it out of the player since I got it.

Good Stuff!
Great Album! Top to Bottom I love all the songs on this album, especially Faded Denim Wash and I Got What you Need.

"A near perfect Ursula 1000 album and an asset to any swinging pad!"
From Allmusic-"Being silly and funky at the same time isn't easy, but producer Alex Gimeno's project Ursula 1000 often sounds like the Art of Noise went kitsch, and maybe never more so than on the fantastic Voyeur. This ridiculous mix of quirky samples and dancey beats comes off as an after-hours party at Pee-Wee's Playhouse, where campy guests like Puddles Pity Party (a "sad, sad clown" and Perry Como sound-alike) stop by with a full-bodied cover of Tony Bennett's hit "The Shadow of Your Smile." Ursula supplies the funky electro beat underneath, but when drag queen and Wigstock founder Lady Bunny applies her diva style to "Blast Off!," it's as if Deee-Lite reunited for one night of space disco dancing. Yello comes to mind as the hot and spicy "Tropical Intention" rapidly chugs along, but there's nothing cheeky about the indie house "Faded Denim Wash" or the deep house "Dancing Underground," although both cuts are lighthearted. As much as Ursula has been known to raise the roof, Voyeur is an even-keeled release with midtempo exotica (the shuffling calypso of "Supersonic Sounds" is somewhere between Steinski and Señor Coconut) and Moby-like numbers ("I Got What You Need" features lush strings, twangy guitars, and gospel-sized vocals) breaking up the pace. Too bad it doesn't come with a representative and swanky title like All Systems Are Go Go or Mondo Beyondo, but otherwise is this is a near perfect Ursula 1000 album and an asset to any swinging pad."--David Jeffries/Allmusic ****

Ample booty
Digging into this CD is the aural equivalent of running your hands through the items in a treasure chest on some Caribbean shore. There's so much here and it all sparkles like jewels bathed in tropical sunshine. We've already heard two singles pulled from this, the mid tempo roller-boogie reverie "Faded Denim Wash," and currently the frenetic Afro-Cuban jam "Tropical Intention," but wow, is there more to Voyeur. I love track one, an explosively energetic concoction called "Supersonic Sounds" that wherever you are makes you want to convert your immediate vicinity into a dance floor. The way Ursula puts salsa piano with breakbeats gets me every time. Outrageous. "Dancing Underground" won my heart over too, with its infectious bassline, thick synth chords that recall classic Prince, and an ever-shifting mix that keeps throwing surprises at you. So many unique guest stars on this release as well - you have to check out the talented Federico Aubele play some seriously steamy guitar on "Balearix." And everyone sounds like they're having fun on the last track, on which the inimitable Puddles the Clown croons that dreamy 1960s chestnut, "The Shadow of Your Smile" over a big funky groove (somehow it works!). Just a party from top to bottom, with all the intricately astonishing production work you expect from an Ursula 1000 release.
