Fifth Avenue Girl

I knew Ginger and Fred did some great dance movies, but until recently, I didn't realize what a super actor Ginger Rogers was. I'm collecting her films including early cheap budget ones, and what fun!Here, she plays a down but not out woman who's ready to live in the park if she has to, but meets a super rich inventor, manufacturer on his bummer of a birthday. His family is spoiled and pretty worthless. Wife is out with a male escort, daughter and son are party animals and all could care less about the family, purpose in life or even the decline of their own lives.He hires her to accompany him home under the pretense of whatever the family members imagine, and then the fun begins! Lots of laughs, clever dialogue and romance with a punch. This is a romantic comedy like they don't make anymore. Even our teen age daughters loved watching it.Great stuff and Ginger with a subdue, sarcastic, but full of heart manner.

Loved this movie so much! A pure delight that does not disappoint. Ginger Rogers in true form. Two thumbs up!

I like Ginger Rogers and she was cute in this movie, but she didn't get a lot of help from the rest of the cast. The actor who plays the son was seriously weak and really didn't work well with Ginger. I would recommend the film because it's fairly funny, but I would suggest "Bachelor Mother" if you want to see a very funny Ginger Rogers movie with an excellent cast. Charles Coburn is a crack up, I like him in everything I've seen him in, and Ginger does a little dancing in the movie too!

I had this movie on VCR but this is a much better quality and the DVD played without any problems. Glad it was available since it is not one of Ginger Roger's most popular films.

Fifth Avenue Girl is likely one you never heard of !The script and Ginger Rogers send itto the 4STAR range!This is a true "hidden gem".

Another great Ginger Rodgers movie. She is great with or without Fred Astaire. Great story. If you like happy endings this is for you.

saw this movie on youtube, had never heard of it and fell in LOVE with it. wondered if I could find it on DVD, and I DID find it here for a WONDERFUL price. Came quick in the mail, disc in clean and working order, case clean and in good shape. Will look here to order again.

Years ago my Daughter and I watched this. She loves old movies like this. I purchased this for her and she loves it. The first time she saw Gone With The Wind she was like where has this been all my life, lol.

Terrific screwball comedy with a serious message when an unhappy and unappreciated millionaire brings home a jobless working girl he had met in Central Park. The girl is level-headed, the millionaire a more or less right guy, and the household filled with a Communist chauffeur (James Ellison), a selfish wife, and a careless son, played by Tim Holt. Everything in this picture is sharp other than the ending. Blink and it may go away.

Ginger has always been my favourite actress and after colIecting all the ones she collaborated with Fred Astaire I wanted to see how she compared to earlier films and later ones.. I wasn't disappointed in the films she appeared in. I enjoyed this film very much.

it is an amusing story ginger is at her best in this type of role, it is an old film so expect old fashioned humourbut most enjoyable
