Love it!
I'm a watercolor beginner and as you know it can get costly trying to find what works best for you. I really like this paper because I work with a lot of water. I did rip my first attempt at removing it from the block, but discovered a little heat from my blow dryer made the process much easier.Given I'm a beginner I think I'll wait beforeInvesting in additional 300pd but very glad I did. Below is a little winter & fog painting to show how itholds color. No regrets!UPDATE: I've been painting since 2016-17 and while I still like this paper, I now find it does not hold color as well as Arches (see 3rd painting and how muddy the colors are). Second painting is Arches with W&N. And yes, I am using professional grade watercolor paint. Arches is my new favorite--the best! Although, if I were doing a muted landscrape this would be my first go to because it retains a great deal of water for a long period of time. If you are looking for bright leap off the page, in my opinion this is not the paper. But still a better choice than most.

Cross between hot and cold press with little to no buckling. Hooked!
I have tried many 300lb blocks. I enjoy hot press paper for its smooth quality and cold press for its texture and water absorbency. However, I don't like either in their polar natural state. I've been looking for something that is middle-of-the-road. Smooth with a slight texture yet it can take massive amounts of abuse. This paper is exactly what I've been looking for and the price is perfect. Fluid is the only company making smaller 300lb blocks so it was super cheap to try the smaller block. Very smart move on their part because I'm hooked. I've purchased a few of their larger blocks in this paper weight now. The only problem I find is the difficulty of removing the paper from the block. I have to use a razor blade for removal. Not a huge issue because I like how strong the sheets are bound, which prevents buckling. But still somewhat of an inconvenience when painting out of doors. I am very pleased with this paper. The photo shows a quick 10 minute experimental abstract sketch used to test out the properties of the paper. It handled a lot of water and takes on the pigment well. You can also lift the paint after it has dried to bring back the white of the paper.

Not too bad except does not take masking fluid well!
It's a cute little size and I haven't been able to find any other really small blocks of 300 lb. I guess all aspiring artists learn the hard was that the pros aren't steering us wrong when they say, just buy the Arches. It seems that once you use Arches you just aren't going to be satisfied with anything else.I was liking it pretty well (does not tolerate a bunch of scrubbing and abuse) and liking the way the colors go on. But I am a mess and if I want something to wind up anything close to white, I HAVE to use masking fluid. Which is where I had my problem. When I went to remove it, it took some of the paper, including paper bordering what was masked. So I got blobs of white where I didn't want them. And the distressed paper at those areas did not take paint well. I tried to fix it also with watercolor pencils but it is still not very nice. The first one I did pleased me a lot more, maybe because I didn't go as crazy with the masking fluid. The horizontal one pictured was my second effect; the vertical one is the first. Photos with thumb and coffee mug show scale. The final picture is the reference photo. If anyone is still reading, LOL, note that the vertical one, for some reason I was sloppy with the masking fluid around the border. I have never tried to do that before but wanted to see what would happen. When I rubbed it off it off the paper looks distressed, which I think in a fortunate accident because it looks like stucco! If you want a neat job around a border I guess some kind of tape would be better.Anyway, I love the tiny little size of this block, wish Arches made them so small, but next time I will just cut or tear the Arches to small sizes and attach them to a board. And this would be more economical. But not sorry I bought it, having fun with it. Love the 300 lbs (hard to find) and if you aren't as hard on your work as I am you might really enjoy it.

Wonderful paper, terrible glue!
Oh I loved the paper! Thick and absorbent, no buckling. But when I went to remove my masterpiece, I couldn't get it off the pad. Used a pallet knife and it pulled and stretched the edges and paper and made a rough edge. On the other side I used a chefs knife and it ended up scoring the paper below, (even though the knife was very flat) which picked up paint on the next picture and still left me with terrible edges. I had to cut the edges off. That wouldn't be a big deal, but the paper is small! I'll keep trying other methods, but I'm not sure I'll buy this again.

Remove from block is awful!
I did this simple flower to put on a card. But the glue on the sides are so thick I couldn’t get the top page off the block without damage.Painting on the block wasn’t the problemOn my Acquarello block had a place where I could put my finger under and pull the top page off the block without damage .If you choose to purchase this small block of paper make sure you have a thin sharp envelope opener

Stuck pages— not worth it
Trying to pull apart these pages is awful. Not only do you end up with bent pages, but I ripped them trying to be as delicate as possible. This is my favorite watercolor paper, but I won’t be purchasing the blocks again. The other size I ordered, 8x8, didn’t tear, thank goodness, but it did bend all the pages up. I would advise strongly against getting any of the blocks.

Game changer
I'm no art expert, I just like to dabble. I had no idea you needed a higher pound when using water colors. This 300 lb paper is great. No wrinkles, doesn't warp. So wonderful. Its bonded on each side to hold the paper down, which is helpful. The only issue is that its a bit difficult to get the paper off the pad, so remove it carefully.

Great!
I am new to watercolor and bought this along with some watercolor brush pens so that I can pretend to be painting while at work. The paper is holding up really well and seems to be able to handle quite a bit of water! I've seen reviews about using a blade, but I just use my finger to pull it out of the block after I am done painting. Will post pictures and update.

I love these blocks for doing watercolour paintings
I love these blocks for doing watercolour paintings. I just can't seem to get the hang of 'stretching' paper, and as the blocks are gummed on all four sides, I don't need to do any stretching. I can just open the block, paint my picture and then detach the paper from the block. Would definitely recommend.

Good quality thick paper block
Seems nice quality but had a shock it was so small. My own fault as did not read it properly, daughter had said that was what she wanted so I purchased it!

Super
