It’s great abit on the expensive wall template is ofkey. Check details
If ur like me and build a shelf without hanging as wall won’t support its weight then just put the wall template even with floor ignore the 5 cm bottom guide and ignore the little rectangle to the bottom, you only need to cut the hole for the big fans and the little out pipe. Which needs to be cut in at a tiny angle to help it flow out. Other then that it so far 4 days in seems great. Any issues and I’ll be here blasting believe that!

Won’t heat if outside temp is near or below 5c
This is a great unit for cooling if a little noisy but as it’s in our upper hall it’s not a problem. But don’t buy if you want it to heat the room in winter as it’s really of no use when temperatures drop below around 5c especially if it damp too. There are other units on the market all be it twice the price that have built in elements to defrost the coils. This is also the case with ElectriQ split aircon units as we have one of those too and I’ve seem the outside compressor completely ice over. That’s the choice made when buying these cheaper units, great for cooling and dehumidifying but not so good for heating.

Not built to last
I really like the idea of these aircon units. They're smart, easy to install, you can add them to your Smart Home, the price is good and unlike portable units don't make too much noise - initially. And therein lies the problem. I am now on my third unit in a year. I don't know if there's a major QC issue at Electriq but the same thing seems to happen over and over again. Install the unit, it runs quietly for a week or two then gradually gets noisier and noisier over time, like a fan bearing is failing. Then after a few months the fans noisily continue but it no longer heats. If you get a good one, I'm really happy for you and I'm sure you'll love it. But if you're unlucky, you're going to spend a lot of time complaining to customer services.

Great, until the outside temperature drops below 5 degrees centigrade
We installed two of these in the summer of 2021, this is their second winter. Both perform identically. They are neat units, easy to install and use. The app integrates successfully with Alexa. Cooling was ample to cope even with the hot UK summer of 2022. One of the remote controls failed early on and we tried several times to secure a replacement from electriQ without success. A few words of warning... 1. The noise, even on 'sleep' mode is very noticeable, these are not 'quiet' units and you might not be able to sleep with one running in the same room. 2. Under certain circumstances the machine purges and the drain hose produces a sudden flood of water rather than the steady drip that is normal. 3. When the outside air temperature drops below 5 degrees these units really struggle to gather heat. At 0 degree C and below they cannot produce any heat at all and simply circulate the cold air. We have run one for a full 24 hours at maximum heating in a well insulated room and the room temperature did not budge, so we're required to supplement with electric heaters which completely cancels out the efficiency advantage of an air heat pump. On reflection I wish we had bought a conventional split system, but these seemed like a good idea on paper.

Very noisy and increased drafts through vents
I purchased this for the heating function. Insulation was tough as I have a solid brick house, the 2 core holes took ages, you will need a very good drill plenty of sheets and patience. The heat it produces is what I expected, but it struggles when its below 3c outside, we fitted it in our lounge and it is impossible to watch the tv or talk with it on, even in silent mode it's very noticeable. When it's not running the outside noise and drafts come through the holes so the room is noisier and colder than before!! It's something I didn't expect as the outside vents don't shut. All in all it's a waste of money, I wouldn't recommend it at all.

1 year on
I purchased one of these August 2020 and waited a year to review because lots of things are great for the first week. The unit itself is a fair size and weight so make sure to check it will fit where wanted. I installed on the wall and due to the fact it vents outside it needs to he an external wall. It requires 2 large core drills through the wall making a bit of dust (local tool hire shop loaned me the drill bit for 40quid for the day but if you don't have a good drill you'll need to hire this too) the unit comes with a template to stick to the wall to get the holes in the right place. The tubes supplied to go through the wall are a bit naff and it may be better to get some plastic tubing instead but the supplied to work if you fiddle enough. Let the unit settle if transported as you would a fridge etc and then hang on the wall once all drilled. The spec says for rooms up to 30m2 but I have around 60m2 and it can bring the temperature to a nice level. It's recently been 32 degrees outside and very cool 19-21 ish inside. If it was in the right size room I would expect it would preform even better. The added bonus is it links to Alexa and WiFi so can be controlled via voice if you set up the alexa skill or turned on from the Tuya app. As I have dogs it's good to check on the room temperature whilst out on hot days and can turn it on remotely. I would think if I could figure it out to make a thermostat turn it on (or it may even be avaiable in settings)The unit has been used for air con and heating in winter. So far doesn't seem to have lost its gas or had any problems. But I have noticed the price has gone from 550 to 700 pounds, this may be due to seasonal or the fact more units have been sold. Anyway I'm still happy with the air con and hopefully it'll last.
