Still current enough for goose bumps
It's been a long time now since that dare-devil tightrope walk between the WTC towers. But if you're sensitive to great heights shown on video, skip this one. It gets scary. Great camera work, excellent documentation of the performance.

I love JGL. His French accent was kind of cheesy, but other than that good performance.

Remarkable Performance
I'll start this review with a fun fact-The story this is based off of a true story that happened in the 1970s. I'm not sure why I assumed it was more recent than that, but moving on.Given I know little about the actual story this is based off of my review is about how good the movie is as opposed to how historically accurate it is.I realize I am bias in saying this because JGL is one of my favorites actors, however, the word that comes to mind in describing his performance in this film is unprecedented. I have always described his style as "ambitious, but tinkering on the edge of naivety," and this role encompasses EXACTLY that. It's hard not to root for him when be is most confident whilst sympathizing with people that think his goal is too ambitious, and not to mention dangerous. The concept alone may be enough to draw viewers in, but there's a certain amount of authenticity this film that is easily appreciated; the main characters are introduced in a way that is natural and believable. The pace of this film considering what will be the OBVIOUS climax is perfect and let's the viewers "in" on the process of preparing for it. It isn't rushed or dragged out - it's just right. My favorite thing about this movie is the incredible character development that is embodied by Levitt's performance. We see a person that is acting arrogant and insisting that the effort needed to complete wire walking is his alone ("Why should I thank my audience? I'm the one walking the wire") transform in to an individual that completely understands what the phrase "team effort" effectively means ("It is because of you all I was able to walk the wire...")The film score was also one of the greater strengths here, and it goes without saying that the set design was absolutely remarkable. You will mutter "oh my god" a million times under your breath because of how much you may become convinced that you are seeing EXACTLY what Levitt is facing below him during his 'Walk'.Watch this movie now!!!You won't regret it.

Moving story. Good activity. Excellent 3D.
I cannot speak to the experience of watching The Walk in 2D or 4K, although I think the story is solid enough to still move the viewer. We watched this movie in 3D, at home, after barely having heard of it and always disregarding it. Better late than never. The experience of astounding. I highly recommend that if you can, you view the 3D version of this movie. 3D is employed as it should be - throughout the feature - but, most importantly, exactly when the climax of film has you death-gripping your armchair. Most reasonable readers will find their hyperbole sense triggered but I am not kidding an have no need to exaggerate. This movie made me feel that the often ignored and under-employed feature of 3D was MADE for this very purpose - despite is existence decades (some say even longer) prior to the film’s existence.3D geeks will have their appetites for pop-outs and depth (and more) satisfied but the story and characterization, along with the knowledge that this is inspired by a true story, are what made this story worth telling. The 3D just made it sing.Highly recommended.

Terrific story that's impossible to believe except that it's true!
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Taken at face value it's a highly entertaining story. But after viewing this I became very curious about this story and started doing a bit of research. I simply couldn't believe that some of the events that this movie portrayed actually occurred. The 2008 documentary "Man On Wire" tells this story through personal accounts of the people involved, including the wire walker himself, Philippe Petit. To my amazement most of the scenes in "The Walk" actually happened in real life. After finding this out I developed an ever greater appreciation for this film, it didn't take as much creative license as I thought it did. If you enjoy this film I strongly urge you to watch "Man On Wire", it's a terrific documentary about this fascinating achievement.Joseph Gordon Levitt did a terrific job as the completely obsessed Philippe Petit, he simply had to walk between these towers. The rest of the cast did an admirable job as well. But for me the star of this film was the imagery of the twin towers. It's as if they were still standing there and were filmed in HD. Many people say that seeing this in 3D was an incredible experience and I can completely see why. Even the way I saw it without 3D it was stunning and actually an emotional experience. While those towers were on screen, they were for that brief amount of time, real. Congratulations to those that did the visual effects for this film because they are truly spectacular and a wonderful tribute to the memory of these American landmarks. In summary this movie is part comedy, part caper, and part deadly serious when the finale arrives at 110 stories in the sky. I enjoyed it thoroughly and recommend it without reservation.

A tour de force
I've found it very hard to review this film, not because it's bad,it's brilliant. The acting is superb and the 3d effects are incredible. What is hard to describe is the physical effect watching this film had on me.I suffer from vertigo normally films don't bother me but on this occasion when it got the sequence where the main character is at top of the World trade center and looks down for the first time brought a physical reaction from me and I almost stopped watching,I did pause for a couple of minutes before continuing, and I'm glad I persevered because it is a great film.A wonderful tribute to brilliant act of shear lunacy/bravery and the twin towers. This is a film that has to be experienced in 3d.

Good film about an incredible "coup"
The Walk is a pretty fine attempt at bringing an incredible, cinematic true story to the screen. The heart of it is of course the story of Philippe Petit stringing up his high wire and walking between New Yorks famous Twin Towers but you'll have to wait for that as the film fills us in on Petits history - taking a whistle stop tour of his life before building towards the actual "coup".Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a charming, magnetic presence as Petit, narrating his own tale from an amusing perch on the Statue of Liberty. A cast of familiar faces pad out the rest of the roles as our boys partners in crime. My biggest criticism would be that perhaps some of these roles are a little under developed but such is life. It is Petits story after all and he dominates proceedings. It all builds to what we really came to see - the admittedly thrilling, breathtaking finale up in the clouds. This surely looked even more impressive at the cinema in 3D but still retains some punch here. For further proof that yep, this really did happen then check out the excellent doc "Man on Wire" which makes a great companion piece to this.

A Gripping Real Story.
If you have vertigo or suffer from heights, you may not want to watch this. It is based on a true story when this French man very daringly attempted to walk between the Twin Towers in America. I loved it, although I have to admit when he was on the tight rope and looking down, it made my hands feel quite sweaty. I would say this is a must watch. But be warned, it is not for anyone who suffers from heights. It is very gripping and Ben Kingsley is well prepared as the teacher. I suggest you do watch it if even though it does get you going while he is between the Towers. Did he make it across ?. I'm not going to tell you. You should watch it anyway. PC.14. 12. 2017.

If you have a 3D TV or PSVR you MUST see this movie. It's one of the best! Great true story and 3D effects.
One of the best 3D movies I've watched at home. I've bought 8 so far and this has the best use of 3D and visual effects. The story is also fantastic, the acting is great, the movie is fast paced and exciting for a true story. More people should see this movie, it is very underrated.I watched it on my PSVR unit which now plays 3D movies. I can reccomend to anyone and everyone. It's family friendly for all the adults and kids. They will love it.3D effects are excellent, stuff pops out of the screen, all the sets have great depth and you feel like you're in the scene.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR 3D and for 2D. Great for everyone!

Entertaining and Dramatic
The fil is first class, wkith excellent acting, directing and editing. The film has a suitable level of humour that underlies the gravitas of the undertaking. The film was made by Robert Zemeckis who, through a strange quirk of fate or synchronicity, also did the Back to the Futures films. If you view several online videos about 9/11 and their odd correlation with the events of 9/11 you will see how this film somehow fits in with these oddities. Robert Zemeckis, apart from being a superb director, was also - so it seems - connected to synchroncity and maybe even visionary in some respects. Top film!
