Norpro Glass Cheese Dome with Marble Base , Off-White

My husband was horrified when he broke his cheese bell and I was delighted to find the exact replacement for it with this belle. Would highly recommend this product.

My old cheese ball dish recently broke and I bought this one to replace it, it’s very beautiful and I love the white marble base, however the domed lid is a bit smaller than my last one and fits snug up against the cheese balls that I make. Still very beautiful, nonetheless. Thank you!

It is a nice marble plate with a sturdy glass dome, beautiful on countertop for display and keeps cheese moist and fresh.

Well made, sturdy, and attractive, this cheese dome was exactly what I was looking for. The cover is made of thick glass which means I am unlikely to break it in the course of use (something reviewers of similar products here on Amazon complained about). The cover settles nicely into the groove designed into the base.Dimensions: marble base is 7-1/2 inches diameter; actual serving surface is 6 inches diameter (surface available once dome in place). Height of the unit with dome in place: 6 inchesThe marble base comes with 3 very thin pads on the underside to protect surfaces on which you place the base. They are so thin that you can't get your fingers under the base easily to pick it up. No big deal though because you can add thicker vinyl pads which will allow picking it up more easily. That's what I ended up doing because I use these for trade shows to display samples of the treats I make, hence, I'm picking it up many, many times per hour.

I purchased this cheese dome and marble base because of the excellent reviews, it was the size I was looking for. I am very happy with my purchase, nice thick glass with a very sturdy knob on the top and the base is a thick light grey marble. Perfect for aged cheese to rest and wink at me in my kitchen.

DO NOT BUY A WOOD-BASE CHEESE DOME. The desirability of wood for this is purpose is an old wives' tale. I've had to eventually throw away every wood one I've every had. The wood absorbs and harbors any of the fungi which are a normal part of the developed cheese flavor. You can't kill these without autoclaving the base. Your cheddar will likely develop a white Penicillium mold and turn into some weird kind of blue cheese!MARBLE IS NOT COLDER THAN WOOD. Another old wives' tale. It's a very basic law of physics that unless heat is actively extracted, as in a refrigerator, everything settles to exactly the same temperature as its surroundings. It would be different if you had put the marble in the fridge to chill. But you don't.This is a very high quality product which I use daily (one cheese at a time only!), to make a cheese always available to eat at room temperature. If you eat a lot of cheese, you must have one of these.
