Quality tool for a very affordable price
I am very pleased with my purchase. The quality of build is better than expected. I wish they offered an engraving service. Everything seems very high quality. No only does it have a "Viking" kind of look, and the weight to match, this hatchet is out performing my expectations. I do not want to sound like an infomercial, but this tool is a very sturdy one to chop wood. I would take it to my camping trips for sure anytime. Great job Stratuscrafts.

Great
Really great value on this item. I purchased another smaller axe/hatchet from the same company and the head became loose after NO use. This model, although twice the price, is superior to the other and feels and looks great. Head is nailed into the handle as it should be and so is the leather wrap.

Buy an axe at Ace Hardware
If you bought a hatchet at a hardware store and wrapped it and in cheap leather straps, you’d have a better blade and handle than this. Don’t waste your money. The metal is not sharp and feels so cheap that I’m just gonna put this up on a shelf hoping no one asks to hold it…

Absolute travesty of a purchase/literally dangerous to use
Ill start with the axe head itself. There is a reason they don't specify what kind of "high carbon" "Steel?" is used. It is obviously scrap metal. The axe head came with more pock holes scars and blemishes than an unfortunate teenager. I can tell that this axe head has been broken and scrap welded back together. The company did try to hide this fact by using a grinder to "smooth" the weld. The conclusion? Well, I don't know if I should weep openly at the kind of day the poor soul manufacturing the axe was having or just cry at the results of his work. The haft is an ok shape. The wood is not rose wood as advertised. I would however describe the spray-can stain covering the handle, axe head, and head pin as "rose wood colored". I give the leather bindings about 20 min of life expectancy under real working conditions. Literally to afraid to function test this thing. Would only recommend for role play and even then there are cheaper options. The product I received would be dangerous to use in anyway other than display. (I understand that products may vary and there are varying experience levels reviewing these items but I do not get how anyone could be happy with this purchase. My axe head was obviously way over tempered and is a shatter/fail hazard upon use. It was probably scrap welded back together after the tempering process broke the darn thing.)Please see Gadget Girl's review. She did not read mine.

Cosmetics only. Far from combat ready
This axe looks cool.... it ends there. If you plan on just displaying this axe then buy it.If you plan on using it for throwing/woodsman type stuff, you will be disappointed. It is by no means functionalAfter one throw the bottom cracked and chippedAfter the second throw under the blade the wood had completely broken. The only thing keeping it together was the leather strapsAgain for display it’s coolIf you plan on using it.... shop elsewhere
