This thing is a juggernaut. I've used it to back up my entire computer, speeds are lightning fast.I've only had it about a week and have transferred and deleted and re-transferred twice. So I can't really testify to longevity, but Western Digital has never let me down. It's super small and a little flimsy feeling, but it's made of metal so it definitely strong.I say buy it!

Useful to keep the clutter to a minimum on the built in laptop drive. You can easily password protect this external drive. It is small and light weight and fast using USB C to USB C. Included is a USB adapter if needed.Would buy this product again.

The Western 3Tb Passport SSD was exactly what I expected. All my computers run Western Red drives and they have run flawlessly for many years. The main features of the 3Tb Passport SSD are capacity, size and durability. Very useful!

I've been using the 4TB version of this drive on a 13 yo Windows 7 64-bit desktop for 3 1/2 months. Of course, there are no USB-C ports on the computer, but I needed the storage capacity and wanted to be ready for future upgrades, so I'm using the included USB-A adapter. The drive performs as well as can be expected with the current hardware, connects easily, and stays connected. I use it primarily for video storage and have no problem accessing it's contents via Plex on the network. However, I did run into one oddity when it comes to rebooting that I wanted to mention for anyone who might be using it on an older system like me. I rarely reboot my computer, so when I rebooted a couple of days ago - for the first time after connecting this drive - I was unpleasantly greeted with the "black screen of death" rather than the login screen. A quick internet search advised me to detach all peripherals and try again. It didn't take long to confirm that this drive was the culprit because it booted up normally after unplugging the drive. Just another thing to remember when rebooting; and the drive still performs flawlessly. Another note: I also use the 2TB version on a Windows 10 laptop and have had no issues with it at all. Transfer rates are very fast, as advertised using the USB-C port. I've used Western Digital drives for ~25 years and have found them to be reliable, so I stick with them.

I love how slim this SSD is. I bought this to replace an old HDD (also a WD My Passport) that's huffing and puffing. The accompanying picture shows it against my planner, both placed atop a potholder. The SSD is thinner than my planner. The gray color matches the shade of my Mac computer.This guy is tiny and mighty. He's USB-C native. My first Time Machine backup completed in under 10 minutes (~150 GB of files). The provided cable is quite short but you can use your Mac's charge cable or another USB-C to USB-C cable for added length.

Quality build, light and small, very fast

I bought four of these WD 4TB SSDs for a project and had multiple failures. I first backed up about 2.5TB of footage on one drive with a redundant backup to another. After beginning to edit footage on drive 1 the drive failed, corrupting all data and losing me about an hour of work. While extremely concerning, I figured this is why we have backups, so I transferred the footage on drive 2 to drive 3, and began editing on drive 2. Soon after I experienced the exact same thing, and had yet another corrupted SSD.I immediately went out and grabbed a professional SSD solution (Sandisk ProBlade, which is still the same parent company), and thankfully was able to copy from my only remaining backup. No problems after that, and I've only ever experienced such a thing with these Western Digital SSDs. I'm so thankful I didn't lose the footage or it would have cost me a whole lot more than the $1500 I spent on the drives.

It's the right size to carry, it's fast, and it looks great. I suggest you buy the bag at the same time because it's hard to find the same size later
