Great lighted magnifier - just be careful when adjusting angle of lens.
I use this for cross stitching. It works great. I have it clamped to my Lowery stand. The arm keeps it's position. Good area of magnification - the 2.25X allows me to work on 36 count linen. LEDs are wonderful! Really lights up whatever you're trying to view. I don't need my overhead Ottlight when using this. I can easily remove the flip up cover while I use it. It easily reattaches - just push down slightly on the tabbed area when putting the cover back on. Just remember, you need to keep it covered when not in use. If you are using this near a window, the sun can hit the uncovered magnifier & catch whatever is underneath the lens (your couch, chair, rug, etc) on fire! The only issue I have with this lamp is the ball joint swivel head. There is a notch in the ball joint (where the arm attaches to the magnifier), be careful when adjusting the magnifying glass to the angle you want to see through. It will easily come off the arm. It's still attached via the wire, you will just need to re-thread the notch into the head of the magnifier. It's kind of a pain in that aspect. But other than that - this is a great lighted magnifier.

This light was far better than the original light that came with the floor ...
I bought this for my mother for her sewing room. She already had a stand and light from years ago. This light was far better than the original light that came with the floor stand. The light is very sturdy and seems to be well made. I was very careful when removing it from the box as other reviews indicated that it may come apart and break. This one was intact and good condition - though I will say that the company that delivered left it at my back door in the weather without placing it in a waterproof bag. Of course, it rained and the box was completely soaked. The light was packed in styrofoam container so it was not damaged. I asked the question would it fit the stand that we had before purchasing and I received a variety of answers. One was that it would not; but I ordered anyway. It did fit the stand in the same way it fit the table clamp. Very satisfied with this purchase. We have not used a lot to rate how the bulbs will last but the LED light is much better than the single bulb the old light had in it.

Has saved my ability to paint!!!
I was at the end of my rope. My vision was so poor i had accepted that had to give up decorative painting until someone suggested i try this magnifying glass. OMG!!! I can paint again!! This lighted magnifying light is wonderful!! It takes some getting use to using but its worth the time. Its very bright (i needed brightness), the magnifyer is very strong so i can see even the smallest of details. I can paint again!! I highly suggest trying this item if you are having vision issues and need more light but especially if you need magnification of a large area. The flexible neck makes it easy to position the whole lamp just how you need it to sit while you work. Best darn investment i ever made. I use it in addition to my regular glasses. I cant say enough how happy i am to be able to continue to paint!!

Beware! - Poor optics, mechanics, short LED lifespan
I purchased this order in December 2017, and from the beginning it started to fail on me. The grip of the lamp would not hold tension and often drooped over time, causing the lamp to sag after setting it in place. I don't know if the weight of the lamp is too much for the actual lamp itself, but it is not useful on a regular basis for fine detail work with a magnifying lens. Over time between December 2017 and February 2019 a number of LEDs have burned out, despite them having lifespans of well over 10 years. The chromatic aberration in the plastic "lens" is really jarring after a while. I do a lot of fine electronics work and felt my vision was weakening because of the color smeared images after looking at a small PCB through the lens. It is only good for quick glances straight down, but viewing at an angle can cause serious stress on your eyesight for prolonged periods of time. This is because they have used lower-grade plastic for the lens instead of high-quality glass. I would pay more for a better glass, and you would expect that give that this lamp is at the higher end of the price spectrum. Some of these didn't even last four months before they began to deteriorate. Less than half the LEDs working in the lamp, and today they completely stopped working altogether. I don't know if there was a short in the unit but the exterior construction seems to be somewhat solid, but the interior is not great at all. Unfortunately many of these lamps are from the same manufacturer with different "brand names" which make finding a solid replacement very difficult.

1 year of use and in the trash
At first I liked this. The arms, articulature, head are all well made and functioned superbly. I was excited because with the new LED technology it should last a long time right? Wrong!! The body of the lamp is still strong and working great but after less than a year sections of the LED "light" started going bad. There are 2 rows of parallel lines of mini LED lights encompassing the circular head of the lamp. I can only assume that they're separated into about 10-20 sections and each section started going out. First, one section would flicker like crazy, worse than when a fluorescent bulb is going bad, after awhile that section would go out completely. In the beginning it wasn't so bad, just one tiny section was out. After a course of about 3 months I now have at least 6 sections containing maybe 10 individual LED's out which is about 1/2 of the whole. Tonight I turned it on and nothing. The biggest problem is that you can not replace the halo of lights, its not like the old fluorescent lights where you can just change the bulb or ballast. I know, I took it apart to check, everything is soldered together. I draw the line at electronics. I'm sure my dad could have gotten all up in there and figured it out but we shouldn't have to. Long story short, after a little over a year of use, its in the trash. LED lights may last forever but only if the electronic circuitry they're hooked up to are made to last as well and they weren't. Its to bad really because the rest of it was perfect
