works with smartthings hub and echo devices via smartthings hub, not issues after 2 months
My set up: I have this bulb connected to smartthings hub v2 with echo dots gen 2 for voice control.I am surprised by some of the very negative reviews of sylvania smart bulbs (Osram lightify is the new name now) in general. While I did experience some of the same connection issues that others had at first, I think that comes with setting up a smart home network. It takes some finesse to figure out which direction things need to point and where you need a repeater for your mesh network. Case and point: I was having connection issues with this light when I first bought it. Sometimes I would use alexa voice commands to try to turn on the light but alexa would tell me the light wasn't responding. I bought a samsung smart outlet (which to my knowledge is also zigbee repeater), plugged it into an outlet that had an unobstructed path to my smartthings hub and also to the new osram light to get around some walls, and presto, no more connection problems. Also, it is important after adding repeaters with zigbee to reset your smartthings hub with the reset button to make sure that your repeater is being used by the bulb and its not still trying to directly connect to the hub (in general its a good idea to just reset smarthings hub when you are having connection issues, its solved most of my problems). Some general product comments:1. I had no issues connecting this device with my smartthings hub. The light turns a bunch of colors when you first plug it in and then blinks and is a warm white color as you pair it to the hub. After adding the light to the smartthings hub and refreshing the devices the echo sees from smartthings, I was able to do all of the typical voice commands (turn light on, off, set to 20%, set light to red, etc.). I was surprised to find that even asking alexa to set the light to "salmon" worked (although I can't say the color it turned was actually what I would consider "salmon" colored).2. I can change the colors of the light with alexa voice commands or within the smartthings app with no issues. I have the lights set to turn certain colors for different alerts as other users have done and the color alerts work fine (ie, turn red if there is a leak at any water sensors). Most of the time I have the light set to "daylight".3. As others have mentioned, this light will default to warm white when the power is cut to it, but it does not lose its pairing unless you reset the bulb (which if i remember correctly is turn the light on and off for 3 seconds each, cycling this process five times and at the last cycle the light will blink which means its ready to pair again).4. I have owned this light now for 2 months and use it every day for at least 5-6 hrs a day and I have experienced no issues. I also have about 7 other osram bulbs I use in conjunction with 5-6 other smart devices (and counting). I had read on another sylvania osram review that a user was having issues with having 8 or more bulbs connected all at once, but I have 8 and have no issues and I plan to obtain more.5. It seems like most users are having problems with the bulbs after 6-7 months, so I'll have to report back after that time and see where this product is at.

The kids love telling Alexa.... 1YR UPDATE!!!
They’re a little finicky to get to the right color temp but work well. They’re also not as bright as our CFL can lights, but we got used to it (getting the color temp right helps output). The kids love telling Alexa to “turn the kitchen green” or “make the dining room red”. I love that they dim really easily. “Alexa, turn the dining room lights down 75%”. Awesome. They were easy to pair with my wink. I have 4 in the kitchen and two over the dining table. Only flaw is they could be brighter.UPDATE! So unfortunately 5 out of the 6 lights I installed have developed the same problem. They stop responding to signals and the light emitted is a dark green. Sometimes they'll brighten to whatever they're supposed to be set to, but it lasts a few seconds before turning dark green again. This initially happened to one bulb about 6 months after installation, Sylvania sent a replacement. Now four more of the original 6 bulbs have all turned dark green within the last 2 months. very disappointing since these aren't cheap. I've tried resetting them, reinstalling them, everything the board on the lights just goes bad. Do not buy.

Trials and Tribulations
I feel like I needed to write a review because I've been buying a lot of these and had to deal with some troubleshooting. I've bought both BR30 color, and A19 white dimmable. All of the smart lights I have are Sylvania Smart+ (also known as Osram Lightify). The first set of BR30 color lights I bought, I had some issues with connection due to firmware. I purchased the hub (linked below) and allowed them to update the firmware to connect properly. I use the Wink Hub 2 system for all of my smart home devices. Currently, I have at least 10+ smart lights grouped differently, Nest thermostat, 2 wink relay hubs, Amazon Echo, and some other minor stuff. After getting the firmware updates on the first set of BR30 color bulbs, my Wink was able to find the bulbs. It is helpful to note a couple of things. Sometimes the bulbs may need to be reset (get paired wrong or other things). With these bulbs, you have to turn on and off the lights a series of times. I forget the actual configuration (turn on 3 secs, then off for 1 sec like 5 times total). The other thing of note, when pairing through Wink, there is a light type called "Lightify Smart+ bulb". The picture is of a standard (A19) bulb, but you should use that one for all of the Sylvania bulbs. I accidentally paired them as Generic Zigbee bulb and had some issues leading to resetting the bulbs to re-pair them. The A19 bulbs have never had issues connecting to Wink thus far. I plug them in, turn on the light, and pair with wink flawlessly. Then I open my Alexa app, discover the new bulbs, and setup a way to turn them off through Alexa. However, the BR30 ones I have had some issues with range. This only seems to occur during the pairing period. What I found is its easiest to plug them into a socket near the Wink, and pair the bulb, and then move it to the desirable location. I had my Wink in the living room, and a BR30 bulb outside on my front porch. Maybe 50 feet. Wink couldn't find the bulb for some reason. I moved the bulb into my kitchen, maybe 15 feet away and it paired fine. I then moved the bulb back to the front porch, and it turns on and off just fine. Its like the range during pairing period is much lower than the actual range. The last set of BR30 I got, came in a different box. These ones did not require any firmware updates. I'm not sure if the newer generation needs them. I think the first set I bought were older. Here's the thing, I love these bulbs when you get them working, but it can be frustrating getting them setup the first time. Its just really hard to beat the current price point of $20 for colored flood lights.https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTIFY-Wireless-Smart-Home-73692/dp/B00R1PB2T0/ref=pd_sim_60_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00R1PB2T0&pd_rd_r=16ZW1SC9ST0S42929SMD&pd_rd_w=6tCmb&pd_rd_wg=qLYce&psc=1&refRID=16ZW1SC9ST0S42929SMD

Takes Effort to Install and Unreliable
I spent the day trying to install the Sylvania SMART+ Adjustable White and Full Color Bulb BR30 with a Samsung SmartThings Hub. I tried using the new Samsung SmartThings and classic SmartThings apps to identify the device and connect it to the Hub. Neither app could see or connect to the bulb, no devices were found. I troubleshooted the internet, rebooted the Hub and repeatedly reset the bulb using the instructions on the Sylvania and Samsung Support websites. The apps could see my door lock, as usual, but could not find the bulb. The apps simply kept synching from 0 to 80% and then stated they could not connect to any new device. The Sylvania app didn't work either. I tried two other light sockets with no success. I turned off secure mode on the SmartThings Hub within the new Samsung app - no improvement.I searched the internet and found a method that worked. One SmartThings forum user said he unplugged his SmartThings Hub for 20 minutes and it easily found and connected to the bulb. Another user succeeded in connecting to the bulb by placing the hub within 3 feet of the bulb when the SmartThings app was searching for the device. I tried both methods at the same time and connected to the bulb (device) in mere seconds and the bulb flashed three times confirming it had paired with the Hub. Something to note, during the pairing process, when I was asked to select the Hub, I selected the Hub in my network and it popped up a warning stating this device did not work with a high level of security. I can't recollect the exact message. After the bulb connected I could change the white light to any color temperature between 2700K and 6500K or any colour in the new SmartThings app. I could also dim the light between 0 and 100%. However, each time I made a change, the spinning wheel appeared and then a message stating the device had disconnected. Exiting the menu and returning or just waiting enabled another change. I wonder if this because I turned secure mode back on in the Samsung SmartThings Hub, inside the new app, shortly after the bulb began working. I haven't tested this yet, nor have I tried to make changes in the classic Samsung app or Sylvania app.So far the bulb does appear to work. I was able to program the bulb using the Smart Lighting app in the Automation tab. This bulb does not attach easily to the Hub like the SmartThings compatible door lock I installed prior to this but it does work and I am not aware of another BR30 bulb offering this functionality with this particular Hub at this time.Update: The connection was not reliable and I am returning the item.
