The Covenants of the Prophet Muhammad with the Christians of the World

Timely book for Muslim and Christian relations in a troubled world
This timely book is invaluable at the present time. I think it's important for both Muslims and Christians to read this work, both given the rising Islamophobia, as well as ugly, heart-breaking events occurring in Iraq and Syria as we speak. This book will re-enforce or in many, reveal the strong ties between Muslims and Christians that needs to be rekindled for the betterment of society in this country, which is suffering.Even with the natural doubts that come into play with studying old documents and their authenticity, the basic teachings of Islam that are talked about at length in this book will itself go a long way in education the masses and maybe those who were not aware of this aspect of Islam. While this is a laborious read, I think for those who are truly interested in improving relations between these two faiths and using it as a tool to do their own work within their communities, it is well-worth the read.I myself, have made a small effort to participate in interfaith events in my community and have found it rewarding. Also, I've been able to make a connection with a Christian and change her opinion for the better regarding our beliefs in the light of both overall issues as well as current events regarding persecution of Christians in Iraq, for example, which is addressed in detail in this book.As a Muslim, it was especially sad to read this book and watch the news in the last few weeks with the ugliness of ISIS rearing it's head in Iraq and Syria, I realized even further how far from the message of Islam and it's treatment of minorities was the complete anti-thesis to what the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) professed during his life and the legacy he left with these covenants. This book and others in the field that will hopefully follow it, are a great initial steps in strengthening the common ground between Christians and Muslims and as well as helping Muslims to recall that their faith calls them hold Christians and their faith in high value, which should prevail over the lost souls that are seemingly driving the narrative and thus misguiding Muslims who think such acts and views are permissible, when in fact they are not, as clearly outlined in the covenants, not to mention the Qur'an and Sunnah.

The Intent of the Prophet Muhammad Made Clear
Misconceptions and biases fall in a heap as readers explore the reality of the Prophet Muhammad and learn of the wisdom and compassion he brought to his position as leader of a burgeoning religious movement. The covenants in question are actually treaties, promises of support and justice for Christians in that time who adopt a tolerance and even-handedness toward their Muslim neighbors. Stringently researched, this volume has opened doors to cooperation that were previously both shut and locked between Christianity and Islam. Religious leaders around the world are forging new bonds based on the demands of the Prophet and the example he set. Dr. Morrow has set up a Foundation to propel this movement of cooperation and brotherhood across the globe.

Most important piece of Middle Eastern Scholarship in decades
One can only be heartened by the mere appearance of this book in the world, and hope it helps heal the gap of entrenched and murderous divisiveness between sibling religions. The scholarship is impeccable in laying out these for the most part unheard of covenants between the Prophet of Islam and who we would still consider to be early Christians. The book is doubly impressive in putting the travels of Mohammed before and after his revelation into clear and very readable historical perspective that also informs about the various sects of Christianity dotted through the Middle East. Should be required reading for American Dominionists, Catholics Universities, Muslim Madrases, and fundamentalist schools of all stripes. People from all religions who want to know what really happened stand to learn a great deal about their origins through this book, and hopefully will better see through the distortions propagated by those with an investment in continued violence. And if those so invested read it, then maybe we are headed for a miracle of peace.

The Covenat of the prophet Muhammad with Christians of the world
IT IS AN UNBIASED WRITING.IT IS OF IMPORTANCE TO NOTE THAT IT WAS WRITTEN BY NON MUSLIM.SUCH WRITING IS NEEDED FOR ISLAM WHEN LIES ABOUT ISLAM AND SPECIALLY ABOUT THE PROPHET ARE SPREAD BY ANTI ISLAM GROUPS.SUCH WRITINGS ARE IMPORTANT FOR BETTER RELATION SHIP AMONG PEOPLE BY REMOVING THE BIASES.This author addresses God as Allah prooving that it is the same God of all. More over he says Peace be upon him after the prophet's name respecting him as Muslims respect Jesus,Moses . Abraham and all prophets. This is the best communication of brotherhood.

A badly needed book to get the just and humane image of Islam to a badly informed public. And a solid ground for friendship between Christians and Muslims.

Good book, but it lacks mentioning the original texts of the covenants. A serious academic work should, in my opinion, add the original texts in their original languages even as appendices. This would assist any academic who manages to read the original language, i.e. Arabic, to study the covenants more accurately.

MUHAMMAD & CHRISTIANS
Anciant documents on Muslims being kind to Christians after conquering and subjugating them. Current events of terrorism show that these ancient documents of peaceful relations no longer mean anyhing, but they are interesting to read!.

an antidote to hate
A book which creates fear and loathing amongst American and EU Islamophobes as well as Salafi-Wahabis has much to recommend it to clear thinkers. For years these covenants have been obscured by ignorance and ill-intent. This work brings to the fore one of the basic components of Islam; relations with non-Muslims, in this case specifically Christians. I recommend the study of this book to all Muslims and to others interested in knowledge of Islam, rather than the usual drivel we get from Amerikan nutters and extremist jihadis.

Hopeful but not objective
Interesting, and he has good remarks. He counters the idea that these founded covenants are a fraud, and although he can't proove its authenticity, it is clear that the texts are remarkably consistent with the wording the ashab would use in their covenants with Christians. On the other hand, the author doesn't proove to be entirely objective. He has a chi'ite view and in many cases he explains a wording from the text in a shi'ite way, where sunnis would explain it differently. He claims sunni's don't use these wording (like the ahl-ul-bayt or the reverence for the family of the Prophet), but is quite wrong in this view. He uses wording from the texts to have a proof that shi'ism was the only original, but the text absolutely has no indication to that. This subjectivity undermines what he wants to clarify with the covenants.

The key Story about the Covenant with the monks of ...
The key Story about the Covenant with the monks of Sinai has many flaws such as : (1) The picture of the back of a hand rather than a Palm or Thumb Print as a way of authentication...? (2)***** "The picture of a minaret over Kaaba when none exists ...?"***** (3) The doodled picture of a set of steps leading from a doodled picture of the Monastery to the doodled picture of Kaaba - an un- necessary over stamping? (4) The story that the Treaty was given by a young 17 year old lad called Mohammad when he was not yet a prophet? (5) Whilst the same person at age 40 when asked by Angel Gabriel to Read, replied "I am unlettered" ...!!! (6) So, How can a 40 year old "unlettered individual" give a profoundly worded Treaty when he was only 17?Likelihood: The possibility is that the Treaty was penned by "someone" not at the time, as claimed, when the young Lad Mohammad aged 17 may or may not have visited the monastery. The picture of a Minaret over Kaaba when "none" exists in real lifer, gives the most "glaring clue" that it may have been "created" at the time in architectural history when having minarets over buildings had come to exist, therefore, a time much later than the advent of the Ministry of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him) or may be even later than the time when He was Commissioned to Prophethood or "maybe" even later than his life-timeNote : Kaaba is the Cubical shaped Mosque towards which Muslims face when praying, located in Mecca
