Die Bücherdiebin Paperback – January 28, 2015

The German text give much better insight into the time period (albeit "Historical Fiction") than the English text/version. Being bilingual was a great help in reading both offerings. The use of the foreshadowing writing style, mostly, is very interesting indeed. Bottom line: well done in all areas....was NOT a waste of time invested here!

Even though I order a used one it was in great shape, just a few pages were kind of folded but still great, plus, the story is amazing, one of my favorite books

I read the book in German after seeing the film in English. The book has much more to add to the movie, and I found the German version helpful to get the right "feel" for the story.

An interesting, unusual style of presenting a book - typographically and grammatically, although some of the historical facts left much to be desired. So far I have only read the English (original) version, but I am looking forward to reading the German translation which, I believe, will be better than the original.

Ergreifend, wunderbar aber auch traurig Die Bücherdiebin zu lesen den mir meine Liebe Frau empfahl. Und wenn das Buch 1000 Seiten gehabt hätte, ich hätte es gelesen, es fesselte mich vom ersten Moment. I liked this story, and the movie, so I decided to read it in the "original German." Later I discovered the author is Australian and the original is in English, so I read the German translation. Still, a good read.

Perfect quality would recommend! I'm using this to help me practice German!

I like the book. I was a German major but still have to look up words, which I can do on-line.

In my mind there are two types of writer. There are those for whom the 'writing' is the main thing. You know the type. Lots of posh words and complex grammar. They probably like the sound of their own voices. They have a an excellent command of the language and boy; do they want you to know it.Then there are writers, such as Markus Zusak, so silky smooth that the words melt off the page and into your head without you even noticing. The pages turn themselves. You're not reading things twice to admire the writing or to figure out what the heck is going on.From the start you're right there, in the train carriage, looking out through the window at the people stood in the snow.If you have a colloquial understanding of the German language but maybe a little rusty in Grammar department. Then please. Buy this book. You won't regret it.

Eine interessante Art der Darstellung menschlicher Schicksale. Obwohl aus der Sicht des Todes geschrieben, nicht makaber, sondern eher humorvoll und objektiv.

Dieses Buch kann man einfach nur empfehlen, es ist echt klasse.Wenn man mit dem Lesen begonnen hat, kann man einfach nicht aufhören.Das Buch ist traurig, Markus Zusak hat einen ganz besonderen Stil seine Geschicht zu erzählen.
