Could I use these for storing flour?

I love that someone is asking this - because I have all my flour and sugar in mine. I keep the flour and sugar in their original bags and double bag with a plastic bag because the top wood lid has gaps so it’s not air tight. I wouldn’t ever just dump flor or sugar in these bins - I love mine - I have more in my cart - just waiting for the extra cash to purchase them.

What’s the difference between “vertical” and “horizontal”?

I think they're referring to the two stripes. The 'horizontal' one has two solid stripes that stretch around the top and bottom of the barrel, while the 'vertical' one has multiple tiny vertical stripes within the two stripes that stretch around.

Where does this Ottoman fit? Can people sit on it?

It is sturdy enough to sit on or use as a stool, I use them for end tables and keep blankets and pillows in them.

Is this safe for use outdoors on an uncovered patio?

I believe the lids would be ruined by weather at the least.
