Bought new but received USED
Purchased this book "new" but received an obviously "used" copy. From the couple of pages I saw, the questions seemed appropriately challenging, and there was an answer key in the back, but given all the markings, I have to return it. I'll mark it 5/5 because it's not the authors' fault that I was sold a "used" book.

It is good exercise for the mind, but use paper and a pencil to improve you answers

Good questions but occasionally a wrong answer at the end of the book.
I was looking for a way to study for ccat tests that companies sometimes use for hiring. I couldn't specifically find that but I ran into this book. The puzzles do assist me in learning to solve test problems. I notice that many questions are similar. For example word to algebra questions which Ibfirvor since 35 years ago. A lot of visual box folding. Following instructions to locate a character. I expect that there are methods to solving these. I will spend a few months or years doing the examples. Then group them and ask around how to solve them. I have 4 tests of 40 questions each. Sometimes the answers in the book seem incorrect. That has happened about 3 times. I cannot tell the difference between the lower case L and I and that mixed me up on at least one question.

IQ test? I don't think so. The book is fun if you like doing logic problems and what not. But about 35% of the answers are not explained and many of the ones that are explained are not explained well. The result is that I cannot improve on certain types of problems because there's no way for me to know WHY my answer is wrong. Also, I believe the author is European and there a quite a few questions that require you to discover a "familiar phrase". But the phrase is not a familiar phrase to an American. The book is OK. Would I buy it again? No.Also, I have taken a full scale real intelligence test, twice. And I scored very well. 2 standard deviations above the mean. If I didnt know better, these "I Q tests" in this book would have me thinking that I am extrememely average.

Exactly what you need!
This book has easy questions that get harder as you go. In each tests. There are a bunch of tests with answers on back. Some questions can be fun and very very challenging. A good buy to kill time and keep mind sharp!
