Fantastic book: well written with excellent code examples
Hadley is a fantastic writer that uses feedback from the R community to create excellent resources for R users. This is another high quality resource he has produced that advances the R environment and all Shiny developers from beginners to more advanced users. The code examples are great for trying our different components along the way and the writing is very readable. This is the best book on R Shiny that I have come across, and I have read many as a Data Scientist and Shiny developer.

Great for Shiny UI and React, absolutely no dashboard info
There is absolutely nothing in this book explicitly about dashboards or reports. Oops.I really wanted to learn about Shiny and on that, the book delivers. The author seems to go out of the way to teach the fundamentals of react, which is fine. It's solid good fundamentals and there is a lot about it. But the title of this book seems to have been written without consulting the contents. The words "dashboards" and "reports" both appear in the title, but if you check the table of contents and the index, the word "dashboard" does not appear at all. The word "reports" does show up once in the index, "reports, downloading , 146." Really? The author's reputation is well-deserved and most of the R community worship at the shrine of Wickham and the tidyverse, but if the title of the book uses the words, "Build Interactive Apps, Reports, and Dashboards..." shouldn't there actually be explicit report and dashboard material?
