Custom Fit Doors Look
I added these doors to a Heatilator 36 inch fireplace. I found the installation fairly easy with a couple of small issues. Do note it clearly states on the box the doors must be in the open position if you use the fire. When adding the door frame the screws that hold in the top and bottom ventilation plates on the fireplace were in the way of the door frame. I also had to remove the spark curtains and rails although it did appear like re-drilling the curtain rail, slightly rearward into the fireplace would have solved the problem.I attached additional photographs to show the fit, and the ID plate of the Heatilator fireplace so anyone looking for a perfect match can see the model number the year, etc.The only downside of this purchase was the time it took for delivery about two weeks. Other than that, a good purchase, reasonably priced compared to other aftermarket doors and a perfect fit.

Perfect product - DIY saves $'s from installers who claim to measure and custom install
Needed a glass door for the fireplace. Local shopping around brought up 2 specialized vendors who wanted to charge $150 to “come, take a look and do measurements”. One of them even had the exact same doors on display in their showroom and quoted ~$1300 for price + $100 delivery + $150 to come and take measurements + taxes.Uninitiated as I was, I learned that Home depot had pre-fabricated fireplace doors. But none of those would match the size needed. And then somewhere I learned that I could find the model number of a pre-fabricated fireplace in a metal tag riveted to one corner. I found it, but guess what, it was nicely painted all black with nothing I could read. A close look showed the letter "E42" and "GR6" embossed in it (thank goodness – see picture). With no clue of even the brand name, googling with just these numbers led to “Heatilator E42” which had the exact measurements. And there was only one product with 5 star ratings anyway (easy choice) - which was from "EZ-FIT FIREPLACE DOORS" . There was another vendor too, even outside of Amazon, who was slightly cheaper, but mentioned a disclaimer that extra parts had to be ordered over phone for units manufactured before ~1995.I went with "EZ-FIT FIREPLACE DOORS" and the product was delivered within a week, though the expected delivery when placing the order showed 4 weeks. The packaging was simply superb, and extremely well protected. Every part you would need to install the door was included with well written, short and detailed instructions. It took about 30 to 40 minutes to remove the old parts and "slowly" install the door. It was a perfect fit.Beware of those who claim to measure and custom install fireplace door. Who knows, they might have just come to find the same metal tag painted in black, which was perhaps painted (perhaps by the original installer / builder - who knows) in the first place to not catch the eyes of “the uninitiated homeowner”.I will let you compute the savings.

Only operates with doors open
We bought this for a Heatilator fireplace that is intended to be used with its doors closed for maximum efficiency. That unit, HB42AI, is listed as compatible with these doors. However, when we opened the package, we noticed a large warning that the doors must be in the fully open position when there is a fire. When we noticed this, we carefully reviewed the description on Amazon and nowhere does it mention that the doors must be open when in use. It is mentioned in one of the questions, but it would be helpful if it were explained more clearly in the description.Other than that, the unit looks very attractive and appears to be well-made. So if you don’t want to have the doors closed while there is a fire present, these would appear to be very nice units. And when I called the company regarding the issue, they were very helpful and very willing to accept the return of the unit. They seem like good folks to do business with.

Works great and not too heavy to install alone
The only hiccup I had installing these fireplace doors is that the few round headed screws on the bottom of the fireplace opening kept the door insert from fitting. Once I removed them, purchased flat headed screws and used them on the sides, the doors slid right into position. Now my cat can’t play in the ashes like she did with a chain screen at my old house. Win!
