A farmer and his wife living in a remote Indian village work hard to produce the farm output and maintain the household, but their three lazy sons sit about all day long dreaming of gold. Frustrated, their mother tricks them into plowing the fields and planting seeds by telling them that these actions will help to unearth a gold treasure dug deep underground. While the sons succumb to this ploy and engage in the farm chores in order to find the treasure, they later learn that the true reward comes from the good feeling of working hard and harvesting the golden wheat. This entertaining adaption of an old folktale is a nice little book for teaching children about the use of natural resources and human resources in wheat production.
