Great Price! Great contact sensor! Versitile installation.
I ordered the plunger style, then realized I didn't have room to mount it as per the instructions! The install was on a door where the hinge side was butted up to a "fake door" with lots of glass. No way to drill a deep 1/4-inch hole in that! Instead, I mounted the unit on the latch side of the door, which changes from a friendly plunge action, to a slightly more harsh sweep-action. So far, it works fine, since the square edge of the door rides the dome shape of the sensor to depress it during door closure. Time will tell how long it lasts.Otherwise, install was fairly simple. 3/4-inch Forstner bit is great, but the 1/4-inch hole for the antenna is trickier. You will need a LONG bit for that (>6 inch), since the chuck of the drill gets stuck in the 3/4 hole. I didn't have one handy, so I used a 3/8-inch blade style with an extension. that works fine, and keeps the 3/4-inch intact to contain the device.Pairing was a snap, and I can confirm it works with the VIVINT panel. I set it up as a "DW21R recessed door contact" and the panel learned the code just fine. Pro-tip: pair and test the device before you install it. :)

not a good product
there is a delay when you one the door with these plungers. If I open and close the door fast enough it doesn't even tell the alarm. too bad I already drilled holes and installed them because I would go back to my wireless thin sensors.

Install and forget. Perfect!
I have a few a these throughout the house, covering all doors. I used the included shim as needed on certain doors. The installation could not be easier if you have the right drill bit. I did have one fail with a bad contact (wouldn't always send a door opening signal intermittently), but that door was used an extreme amount of times over several years. I replaced it without fail - battery life and range is great on all of them. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this sensor for door use.

Must have - don't have ugly sensors on your doors!
These have worked perfect for both my normal swing doors and the sliding doors in my home. On the sliding doors we put the plunger in the door seal and when the door is shut it pushes the plunger far enough in to work. Originally the alarm company wanted to install really ugly units on the outside of my doors. I did some research and found that these are on the same technology as used with alarm.com and vivint products. They installed easily and work great.

No ugly sensor on my front door.
Really like this door sensor. Nicely hidden after installation and it works! I didn't drill into the framing studs for the antenna, I simply fitted into the space between the jamb and the stud so that it is vertical. Double check your alarm pairing instructions and you are ready to go. However, depending on your alarm panel and the distance between it and the ION sensor, you may have to set up the antenna as described by the instructions.

Ordered The Wrong One
I ordered the wrong one. This one didn't work with G.E. systems. Returned and bought the "Plunger-G" model that worked perfectly so I'm sure this will work for you if this is the model you need. Check carefully before you order and make sure this is the correct model. There are two models.

Out of sight
Working perfectly with my 2GIG GoControl/Alarm.com system. I installed it in place of an old wired sensor no longer in use and moved the old on-door sensor to another location. No more ugly sensor visible on the door.
