Snow Girl and The Dark Crystal

I don't seem to be able to accept most Far Eastern films that are based on mythology, even mythology they make up. I guess the cultural concepts involved escape me.But some are definitely worth watching, as eye candy if nothing else. This is definitely one of them.And the plot is both a bit complicated and followable.In this case, we have a hero who has mysterious powers, eventually revealed, and a demon he falls in love with when he supposed to be killing demons. But all is not as it seems.This was the SD Amazon Prime rental version. It was clearly labeled as not being in English (which it is not) and has English subtitles.

the 3 stars are for the lie by either amazon or the company it streams with (hi-yah) that says it's in English, it is not in English, and there is no options in the language section to actually put it in English since it says that "English" is the only language so there are no other choices, amazon should really check this before streaming, i will certainly not be renewing from this company (hi-yah) after my free trial, simply for its lies, i am now going to report to amazon it's not in English if i can find the option

nice movie

This movie was weird and there were obvious area that seem to be there just to lengthen the film. The area of just yelling or roaring of the 'demon' was done way too much and in many places, just was lost to meaning. Was it anger? Frustration? Who knows. The CGI of this 'demon' was quite cheesy, as were several others. And, for someone who was to keep himself pure and chaste, the guy quickly gave up his virtue to a woman. Too many things didn't make sense. One was WHY she was there. Another was a quick reference to the hero being charged with a crime. Too many things that just didn't thread together well. To say much more would be to add spoilers, and I wouldn't want to do that.There are much better films with these stars in it. I see no reason to watch this again.

I cannot describe how amazing and beautiful this movie is. It is a love story, an epic puzzle with demons and gods battling, where demons and gods are not what you think, and the human who gets caught in the middle of it tries to do the right thing - whatever that may be in the end. The CGI is seamless, so that you are lost in the story and totally buy into the fantasy. The visuals are stunning in blu-ray. And the music is so good, I'm going to go looking for a CD of it and the translation of the song at the end credits. A drawback is the English is subtitles only, but now that I know the story I can watch more of the movie, without losing a frame. Some I just paused to take it all in. If you are a fan of mythology, this Chinese tale will deliver. If you are not, the action scenes and CGI are all you could wish for. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the movie

Wow. This is such an unexpected nice movie. I was attracted by the title and the cover of the dvd case. It was such a delightful surprise to find a movie so unique in the mythology of Heaven and Hell. Like wow... not your typical Demons and Satan are bad and God and Angels are good movie. I really love the Asians' interpretation of mythical religious beings, making them more complex than even certain humans. If you are into movies based around mythologies and religious myths, or are a fan of Jim Henson films such as The Dark Crystal and Legend, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this film, Snow Girl and The Dark Crystal. My next Chinese dvd is going to be The White Hair Witch. This dvd came with trailers and one of them was The White Hair Witch and I liked the trailer.

Lots of fun; glad amazon recommended it to me.

When choosing this movie especially a chinese movie, i verify the languages it can be watched. It says English. Well nope only Mandarin at least it has english subtitles. But it did mention under languages English.
