Q: Can these be opened up and used as a normal beach towel, ie to lie on the beach or a sunlounger?

It can't be opened up, but is fairly big anyway for sitting on. Maybe not full body length but the upper body could lie comfortably. I would say.

Q: Would it still be roomy on a size 18 lady?

Yes I was size 18 when I bought it and there was plenty of room have since dropped a size so even more room

Q: Would it fit a 6 ft 2 man?

I am 5ft 3in and goes to just below my knee, more than wide enough but dont this it would give good coverage on a 6ft 2in man

It's very lightweight. Don't know the weight but it's certainly light and quick/easy dry. Please note, this is made for drying and changing in rather than keeping warm in.
