Uplifting and encouraging. This book is a must-read for everyone.
I have never read a book that spoke so clearly to me and instantly uplifted me. Amy gets right to the point, clearly articulates to the reader what her goals are and delivers meaningful, encouraging and inspirational messages. I love how this is an easy, quick read, but it’s deep. In my honest opinion, “Perfectly Imperfect” is a book that everyone should read, if not for themselves then to better understand what so many others experience with body image. I love the stories within this book, it makes it a fun, relatable read. I saw myself, or those around me, within the stories and it gave me a deeper understanding about why I view myself, and others, the way I do. This book will be one that I re-read over the years and share with my daughters. I now have a clearer picture about how to teach my children self-worth, which in large part starts with me loving and respecting my body. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn how to love themselves more. My self-love and appreciation for my body has grown as I’ve read and applied Amy’s challenges. This book is wonderful!

Comforting Read, Could use more exercises/tools
It was a comforting read and did help me to feel better. However, I think there wasn’t enough on the side of tools to help improve your self esteem/body image. I would still recommend it overall though!

A+ beginners' resource
As someone who has done a LOT of body-image work over the past 15+ years of my adulthood (I'm now in my mid-30s) — through therapy, online courses, and self-help books — I think this book is an excellent resource for anyone looking to start digging into their body-image issues. The concepts in this book weren't earth-shattering to me, but they will very likely will be groundbreaking to many people, especially those who have never seen a therapist or done any kind of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). Even though the concepts weren't new to me, it was still comforting to read and remember them.Honestly, each one of us has to start somewhere, and not everyone has the resources to see a therapist one-on-one — that's where this book can help. If you've realized something is wrong but you don't know where to start, this book would be a fantastic choice. The author writes with love, warmth, and care. This book is organized into five sections:1. Seeing YourselfBody image, self-esteem, and the *actual* underlying problem.2. Looking Around YourselfThe sociological aspects that influence our body image.3. Embracing YourselfFiguring out who you are beyond your physical body.4. Caring for YourselfThe toxicity of diet culture, and the importance of moving joyfully, getting sleep, and practicing self-care.5. Sitting With YourselfLearning about boundaries, mindfulness, emotional self-awareness.I definitely recommend this book to anyone new to working through body-image issues. It will give you tools and strategies to start using immediately, as well as several important perspective shifts that will change the way you see yourself and the world.

How your outlook & environment influence your weight
This is an encouraging book that leads the reader to a better understanding of their relationship with their own body. I particularly found the section on the various aspects and ways of controlling the social environment.I was already aware of Dr. Dan Siegal’s wheel of awareness, but if you are not, you will find some info about it in this book. It’s great! The basics of each chapter are:1: negative, neutral and positive body images; self esteem (cognitive behavioral emotional therapy; emotions, thoughts & behaviors); letting go (control & perfectionism; beauty & appearance; fat talk)2: your social environment; social interactions; positive body image heritage; social media; curating & filtering your surroundings; creating a positive environment3: body tolerance; body appreciation; appreciating function; loving yourself (positive body talk; shame & vulnerability); what matters to you; your value system; wholeness & well-being; it’s different for everyone4: nourishing yourself; diet culture; relaxed eating; movement (weight stigma); how healthy are your exercise habits?; keeping it fun; sleep; self-care5: time; balance; service; mindfulness & the wheel of awareness; understanding your core issues; emotional self-awareness; handling yourself with care (triggers; don’t get discouraged; find joy & purpose)Highly recommended. You don’t need a “diet” you need the right outlook. But that’s JustMe. (I received this product in exchange for an honest review, and that is what I have offered here.)
