4-Stars Simply Due to Timing - I Got This Shovel After the January 2016 Blizzard
This review will be a bit difficult to write due to the fact that I never got a really serious chance to use this shovel. Had I simply purchased a new snow shovel when I saw the display of them at Lowes two weeks BEFORE the blizzard hit back in January, there would be no review writing at all. As it stands, however, my 6-year old shovel started falling apart while shoveling after the blizzard, (go figure), which prompted thoughts of ordering one online, where snow shovels are made nowadays, etc etc. After looking around I decided on the Ergieshovel.I did get to move a little bit of snow with this shovel several days after the blizzard, and though it is different, it worked well. It requires the user to adjust to the new hand and arm positions in order to load the shovel and throw the snow, but, it works. From what little snow I moved, it felt like this is a shovel the user does NOT want to load up fully or overload with snow. A good, reasonable amount of snow can be loaded onto the shovel and moved/thrown easily and let's face it, when it comes to shoveling snow, it's not a contest. Any amount of snow moved is a help, it's progress. This shovel did reduce the amount of bending required to lift a shovel-load of snow, it feels well built, it's made in the U.S.A., and I think it will last a very long time if used properly. If more snow comes our way before the end of this season and I get to use the shovel again I will update this review. For now this review is 4-stars simply due to the lack of experience using the shovel, but I'm betting the rating will go up to 5-stars should we have another significant snow. That said, I can wait until next Winter for more snow.

Reduces risk of back problems
I bought an ergieshovel because 45 days ago I was diagnosed witha herniated disc in my lower back. I wanted to replace my conventionalsnow shovel with a shovel that would minimize the risk of injuring my backagain and keep my back as straight as possible while lifting snow. When my ergieshovel was delivered, the top grip was cracked. I calledthe 800 number and left a voice message requesting a replacement grip.I received a call back the same day and the customer service rep saidthey were going to send me an entire new ergieshovel. The new shovelarrived at my home four business days later. Our first snowstorm of the season was about 5 inches of powderedsnow. I used the ergieshovel to clear my 30 foot driveway and sidewalkwithout any problems with my back. As an extra precaution, I waswearing a lumbar back brace.

Decent for the money
Lovely design, easy to assemble. Unfortunately both the sides in the back cracked when using my foot to help push it through icy snow, wish it was a bit sturdier.

It’s an average product not really satisfied with it
The metal on the front is weak and it can easily be damaged.

Nothing like shoveling with a regular shovel
This shovel is just fantastic-you use your arms to shovel, not your back. I even shoveled some snow after I sprained my back and felt no discomfort. The construction is excellent-the "assembly" is "push the shovel head into the shaft"-no screws, takes all of a couple seconds. I really never thought I could get excited about a shovel-but this is the one to have if you would prefer to tire your left arm rather strain your lower back. Plus, the delivery was in three days-and for all of you fellow "made in the USA" folks, another plus. You can't go wrong with this shovel.

Sturdy, well designed shovel
This shovel is fantastic. I had a $10 store special that I was using every week, and decided to upgrade to something better. Not only is the construction very stable, but the design is excellent. Your back will immediately thank you for the design changes. The front edge has a metal plate that's perfect for banging on hard pack in the driveway to loosen it up, and there's no wobble in the handle as you pick up a full scoop of snow.
