Summary of The Power of Vulnerability: Teachings of Authenticity, Connection, and Courage

I'd first heard of Brene Brown a couple of years ago, when my church did some discussions about her work and livestreamed one of her talks. The talk that this summary book is based on is popular - however it is 6.5 hours and only available in audio format. This summary does a really nice job of condensing her ideas on shame (and its cure, empathy), and differentiating shame and guilt and why shame is so poisonous. Her insights are very good, and even if I ever get around to listening to the whole 6.5 hour talk one day, I will definitely still use this book as a reference!

This was a great companion to the work of Brené Brown. I have watched Brené Brown’s TED talk and absolutely connected with her. Her ideas on vulnerability and connecting with your authentic self hit close to home and I love how this summary touched on her best thoughts and ideas for growing towards becoming whole hearted. Weaving in her personal stories gives a certain validity showing she is working to practice what she preaches. This summary has been a great companion to her work. Highly recommend.

This is a great summary that gives you the important information of the full-length book in bite-sized pieces. You get all the relevant points in short chapters that you can read whenever you have a few minutes. You can read this summary in one sitting, but I chose to read a chapter a night to have time to think about what I learned. I like that the summary encourages you to buy the full-length book if you want to get more details.

This summary has the remarkable ability to read as though you are missing nothing at all. It's a great companion to the book as it gives the condensed version of the sessions, so you can get the nuts and bolts when you want, but flip back to the original if you want the more elaborate version.
