Well worth a look for sword-and-sorcery fans
I recently received this issue as a subscriber and promptly read it. I found it a good issue overall, with stories likely to appeal to sword-and-sorcery fans. Contents include another Morlock Ambrosius story by James Enge, a King’s Blade adventure by John C. Hocking, another of Violette Malan’s stories of the mercenaries Dhulyn and Parno, and an OK story of street performers seeking to rescue a kidnapped child, by Adrian Simmons. In addition, Adrian Cole adds another story to the adventures of Elak of Atlantis, and C. L. Werner offers perhaps my favorite of this issue’s stories, “Demons of the Depths,” featuring the demon-fighting samurai Shintaro Oba. Editor Howard Andrew Jones contributes an essay on Harold Lamb’s historical fiction, and there are the expected game-related stats for elements of each of the stories.
