Kew: The Witch's Garden: Plants in Folklore, Magic and Traditional Medicine

Wonderful
Easy to read, fascinating snippets about plants we take for granted. A great read for these cold days when we long to get back into the garden - and also interesting planting ideas.

For the Witch in your life.
This book is full of interesting information, it’s well laid out, and there are pretty pictures. No spells though.

Kindle Version is Not True Kindle Text Format
I don't know what the format is called, but the text is not true Kindle text. It is handled as a two page image. Yes, an image like photograph rather than actual Kindle text. Because the book is a collection of images rather than a true Kindle format e-book, you can NOT perform the following functions:--select and highlight text--select fonts or font size--use the search function--write notes--use the dictionary. On my Fire 10 two pages are displayed simultaneously on the middle of the screen. It is slightly larger than one third the screen with almost a third of white space above and below the the displayed pages. The book forces you to hold the Fire in portrait mode (long side vertical). The text is too small to comfortably read, so you must use a two fingered swipe to zoom in on the text. Then you must pan around the page to read it. When you flip the page, the next two pages are displayed in the original too small to read size.Technically I could probably read this on my Paperwhite but when I zoomed in on the page the image quality deteriorated to the degree that I found it illegible and ceased to fool around with it.No where on the sales page do I see any reference to the fact that this is in any special format. The book is attractive with nice illustrations and looks informative, but because of the image format, the book has been reduced to the Kindle equivalent of coffee table book and not a serious text for research. Because it can be read on my Fire (although painfully) and I bought it on sale on the Daily Deal, I decided to keep the book. Had I paid full price, I would have immediately returned it for a refund. -

Difficult to read
The type in the kindle version overlaps and has sporadic spaces which makes reading difficult and gave me a headache. I haven't seen the print version but I wouldn't recommend this version to anyone.

Witch’s Garden is a lovely book!
The writing, illustrations and the feel of the paper texture all contribute to making Sandra Lawrence’s book a veritable work of art. 💗
