I bought these berries because of the high levels of antioxidants and possible health benefits. Like several reviewers commented, these taste extremely tart. They are almost impossible to eat plain - They will make your mouth feel like it has turned to leather! But there is an easy answer - Make fruit smoothies. Mixed with other fruits aronia berries have a wonderful taste and beautiful color. For smoothies I use a some combination of the following fresh or frozen fruits: bananas, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, pineapple, apples, and pears. I also add some water or juice and some yogurt or kefir. Of all of these, I find bananas and yogurt are the most effective at neutralizing the tart taste.I bought these berries as a test run to determine whether I want to grow berries in my yard. As a result, I just ordered 12 plants from a nursery called Bellbrook Berry Farm in Madison, Wisconsin. These berries were native to America and grow in almost any condition, even in low levels of sunlight. I was amazed at the service I got from this nursery. Within two days of placing the order I received plants that were carefully wrapped and in 4 inch by 5 inch pots. They were tall and strong and some even already have berries.I'll keep you posted on my growing experience. In the meantime I'll be buying more of these frozen berries either through Amazon or directly from Bellbrook Berry Farm. Don't be fooled by the tartness - They are a gem!

Berries were well packaged, but mostly thawed upon arrival. I immediately put them in the freezer, and they seem to be okay.

Was really impressed with the frozen shipping as I bought two packs and thankful for the free book on Aronia berries. I used to buy Aronia berries from another brand at Whole Foods but sadly they stopped carrying any Aronia berries. New loyal customer!
