Fun trinket, but hard to get working smoothly
If you carefully punch out the various gears and follow the instructions you get a complicated-looking but cool steam punk mechanism. It takes some time to work in all the gears but fun to look at . When you realize that only 4 gears actually lead to hand movements and all the others are cosmetic it kind of just makes it more interesting.

fun
easy and little small but is a perfect way to get into these models

Relaxing
Relaxing and entertaining. Pieces could be a little bigger and less fragile.

The pegs need sanding!
The media could not be loaded. None of the pegs that come with it fit in the holes without breaking off parts. Make sure you have some for 600 grit sandpaper and sand them all very carefully. time lapse included

Lots of fun.
This was a fairly simple one. Needed wax for the gears and needed to be better picture details. Couple of pieces only went one way but fit multiple ways. Liked that pieces were numbered and directions used the numbers.

Cool FUN little beginner model!!!
GREAT FIRST PROJECTI've wanted to try one of these sets for a while but didn't want to spend a lot in case it was too difficult or flimsy. This little gears set is awesome! Challenging but not too bad.Some.of the parts have very fine little details and some are quite thin. It requires patience and a firm but gentle touch to remove the fragile pieces from the boards.I recommend using a graphite pencil (I just used a regular old #2) and draw on the insides of each tooth on each of the gears that touches other gears (be sure to check the movement every time you add a gear, and pay close attention to the exclamation marks in the instructions!). I also rubbed some pencil over some of the pegs that were hard to push in. Especially in the final step, when attaching the model to the base, there is no good way to grip the model and push it in, so I covered the pegs in graphite and they slid right in with some firm but gentle pressure. When finished, the model was a little stiff at first, but I kept adding pencil to the gears and kept turning everything until it now moves freely.Overall I am really pleased with this little model (and it is little). The quality and details are splendid and I will be purchasing bigger sets in the future.PERTINENT INFORMATION:REQUIRES PATIENCE AND A GENTLE TOUCH TO REMOVE THE PIECES.THIS IS NOT A WINDUP TOY. IT IS A MODEL OF GEARS THAT YOU TURN WITH YOUR FINGERS.IT IS NOT A WORKING CLOCK.IT IS FUN AS HECK AND A COOL LITTLE MODEL.

Start and go steadily with care to assemble, genuinely fun for enthusiasts
A hectic time of year, and this was the only gift I bought this year that made me smile. It wasn't easy, and it's somewhat fragile, but this product made time go out the window, like no product has for me in a long time. It brought me back to the days when a model was genuinely fun to assemble. I started, and I didn't feel like looking at the time at all. That's my opinion. I hadn't felt like that in years, and the results are genuinely unique. I feel like there must be a lot of fans of this. The moving parts are interesting. I'm looking at their other products, from U Gear, for sure. The five star rating is for excellent quality. It's what you can expect from top a top rate product that size. The make requires some care. I've considered casing, since the small pieces are somewhat fragile. The fragility doesn't take away from this products appeal to me.

Not what I was expecting.
I enjoyed building this kit, so I’m not giving it a negative review at all. As ever, Ugears makes quality kits that are easy to build. But I was met with some surprises from this kit, and I found them worth mentioning. Three things, in order of least concern to greatest.First, this is a tiny kit, compared to some of their others. It’s two small pieces of plywood, and the instructions are on the wrap around them and are rather small. The finished product is roughly 4 inches tall.Second, it does not function as a clock. There is no clock mechanism nor the capacity to install one. It’s just for appearances.Thirdly, the gearing is incorrect for a real clock! The minute hand is geared to the hour hand at a 3:1 ratio, instead of a 12:1. Honestly, that was surprising. Oh a side niggle is the hour hand and minute hand do not line up on 12. The axle hole needs to be rotated by a few degrees on the final minute hand gear.Overall, it’s a decent kit, but it is tiny and is not really a clock. It has 6 extraneous gears just there for looks, which is as many as the functioning gears. I probably would not have bought it if I had known those details. I enjoyed building it for what it was.
