Wish I knew these things years ago.
Claudia Hammond's book is full of interesting insight into human behaviour, linked to money. I have bought this book for family and will also be sending it to friends and think they will also find it interesting.

Disappointing
A disappointing book. It does not do what it says on the tin. It is not really about the psychology of money and it is not much good at helping you to use it better.I think it must have been a publisher's project i.e. books about money are selling well, let's produce one. So they got somebody to cobble together a diverse set of "studies" vaguely on the theme of money which are not very convincing or informative and rushed it out as a book.As a book, it has major faults. The author cannot resist talking about herself. The use of quirky subtitles for the chapters promises but does not deliver (eg. "how Peuerto Rican monkeys helped a researcher understand the financial crisis"). It is all style and no substance. The advice offered falls into 3 categories. The obvious ""Think carefully about when to buy insurance". The silly,"If you want to build a nuclear waste dump". The irrelevant " If you want to bribe schoolchildren".My advice would be to give this book a miss and save yourself £9.99. You could spend the money on something useful.

Great reference source
I read every money psychology book and research report I can lay my hands on. While I was familiar with many of the insights and studies referred to by the author, many more were new to me. This is quite a long book and it took me a while to get through it, but the style is accessible, friendly and clear. I speak professionally about money and personal finance and this book has provided me with lots of fresh ideas and stories for future talks. If you want a quick steer on how to make better financial decisions, just read the last chapter. If you want an in depth understanding of money psychology then you will enjoy and be well-rewarded by reading it from cover to cover.

This is a good book and makes me recognise how many times I've been duped into spending more than planned or wanted. Buy the book as an investment - or you'll spend money you don't want to. She's a good writer too. It's a long book which is the only reason for 4 stars. That said, each chapter has nuggets within so it's worth persevering with.

Decent book but not what the title implied
This book is in essence an accumulation of a couple of hundreds research papers on the subject of money psychology. However, the author does not provide any in depth information on the subject of money psychology or provides a relevant context through which the findings of those research papers can be understood or applied. Overall the book is well researched but misses to provide any substantial insight into the psychology of how human deal with money.

Mind over Money
Fascinating. Hammond got sinto all the ways we regard money and the tricks play don us to make us spend. What is the best way to collect for charities ? Not the gorgeous tiny girl refugee ut more snotty nosed kid with sores. Who would know. Seriously interesting and very readable, good chapter length,
