8MILELAKE 6pcs 1/8-3/4 inches Precision R8 Collets Set Mill Chuck Holder Kit

I measured the TIR (Total Indicated Runout) of the 1/4" collet at 10 mils at 1" from the face of the collet. I measured the TIR of the 1/2" collet at 5 mils at 1" from the face of the collet. The opening of the 1/2" collet was undersized to the point of having difficulty in inserting a 1/2" center into the collet. Thinking it could be my spindle I compared my results with known good collets giving under 1 mill runout 1" from the face. I did this test 10 times to insure that It was not me or foreign matter causing errors. Measurement were made with a dial indicator and a precision ground 1/4 and 1/2 in rods from McMaster Carr. The 1/4" collet was so far out that at 6 inches from the collet you could see the cone it made in the air!

Import machine tools with decent precision. Every bit good enough to work for general milling tasks. If you know enough about how to accurately measure the slight imperfections these will invariably have, then you also know what to expect. Great for beginners.

Some people say these have runout. I think they need to check for runout on their spindles cause all but one of mine have ZERO runout. The one that does is only out by 0.0003" and I corrected it on my lathe in less than 5 min. These also grip waaaay better than a Jacobs Chuck

The collet set was a good value. Shipping was fast and appearance is excellent. Using a collet instead of a chuck in my mini mill saves vertical space and improves machine rigidity. A win-win for me.
