The devotional you didn't know you needed but you need to buy right now!
I bought this book almost 2 weeks ago, and wanted to wait until I had actually used it for a bit before I submitted a review. I've had many devotionals so know that sometimes you're all in with them for the 1st few days, but soon lose interest because it just isn't speaking to you. Tying a bible verse to a real world situation in a way that both teaches and engages isn't easy. In order for a devotional to be effective, it needs to do both. Getting people to live the bible is even harder, they need to understand the bible. Its difficult to understand the bible if you can't apply it to you life in a way that is familiar. Enter the My God Today devotional. I'm 12 or so days in, and every day has been a situation that either I have personally experienced, or have had a friend or family member that has. Using real world situations, and going even further & tethering them to well known contemporary lyrics, then pulling it all together by putting some bible on it, that's genius. A couple of days ago, the lyric was from D'Angelo, the question posed was "How does it feel", & the little bit of bible was Luke 6:31, the "do unto others" verse. Now I don't know if D'Angelo & Raphael Saadiq were thinking about Luke when they wrote that song, but after reading the devotion, every time I hear it, that is absolutely what I'm going to think of. That is what you want to be the end result of a devotional, giving the reader applications they can use in life backed up by scripture that they actually remember. So I say all that to say this, you need to buy this devotional. Buy one for yourself, and almost more importantly if you have anybody who isn't feeling the bible or devotionals, buy one for them. Its a great easy introduction to how you can apply scripture in a way that's nonthreatening, and just makes sense. Most of the scripture readings are 1 or 2 verses that can be pulled up on your phone. It can't get any easier than that.

Where has this been all my life?!
This is the first time I have stuck with reading a devotional for this long! I usually start one in January and have lost interest or gotten out of the habit of reading it daily but that is NOT the case with this one!! I look forward to reading it each morning!!

Great Premise, Elementary writing
I gave up. I got tired of the same phrase starting off every single lesson like an elementary book. I expected a higher quality of writing. The premise is nice, the execution needs work.

I keep thinking: get out of my head 😂
This devotional is awesome! 90s & 00s hip hop and RnB are my jam so that’s why I chose this book. The way she weaves some of the greatest lyrics of all time and the Word of God together speaks to me. The stories are so relatable that some days I’m like “dang, how she know my life?” I share these devotionals with my girlfriends who had to order for themselves. Don’t hesitate to order yours.

Great book for the audience
My husband didn’t enjoy as much but he isn’t the intended audience. For young women, recommend. Have bought several copies for gifts to friends.
