Mini Cooper Cabin Filter
Good quality and great substitute for the OEM filter for my Countryman. Great value compared to the markup the Mini dealer wanted.Very well known manufacturer

Quick and easy!
I have a 2009 Mini Cooper S Hardtop. This filter fits perfectly. I've had the dealership replace the filter twice now since I've owned the car. Now that it's out of warranty, I am not willing to pay them $60 for an $18 part and 5 minutes of labor. This was my first go and replacing my cabin air filter by myself. The shipment arrived quickly, and even came with instructions for the first-timer. It's pretty basic, and even more straight forward than I thought. There aren't even any screws to remove. The supplied instructions give an estimate of 18 minutes. It took me 9. The majority of the time was spent trying to unclasp the cover from under the glove box. Basically, I was being too gentle, and just needed to really pry the two clasps apart with some force. But the passenger foot-well light near the air filter cover didn't help too much (it sorta of is in the way). Needless to say, now that I've done it myself, the next time will be less than 5 minutes. One other tidbit of info for first-timers, is that I thought the filter was just just placed in flat. There is actually a wavy groove (S-wave) that the filter slides into. It slides in pretty easily though. Also, as is the case with another reviewer, I wasn't exactly sure which way was the correct way for the air flow. I should have looked at the filter I removed, to see which way Mini had theirs installed (which, by the way, was basically identical to this one -- it was even a Mann-Filter, both made in Germany). I ended up installing it so that the end pieces of the filter "v" pattern were facing toward the sky. So, it basically looks like this \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ and NOT like this: /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\. After some research, it appears that was correct. Here's the scoop for air flow:If there are arrows (which there aren't on this filter), they should supposedly point toward the sky (as the air is getting sucked from OUT of the cabin and into the filter and then recirculated -- which does make sense). Some say that they should be pointing down, as the air goes from outside the car and INTO the cabin (which also makes sense to me). On this filter you will (barely) notice is that there is a grey side and a darker (heathered effect) charcoal side. The charcoal side supposedly faces down. But quite honestly, I've seen arguments for both ways. I guess someone with more knowledge should chime in. All I know is I put mine so the darker side faces down.

Just like OEM R56 Mini Cooper
100% fits R56. Easy to slide into place if you line it up right. Take your time and push carefully and it will follow the wave shape going in. Excellent!

Beats the stealership by a group!
My "friendly" Mini dealership wanted $105 to replace the cabin air filter - I figured that must be a heck of a filter and/or a heck of a lot of labor. Looked this up on the webpage of my local auto parts store. Went to Amazon - it was half the cost of what my local auto parts place charges for exactly the same part (if they have it in stock - if they don't have it, they tell me they will have it tomorrow - result is a trip to the store and then another trip to pick it up the next day). This was delivered to my front porch the day after I'd ordered it! I went out to the car, opened two little clips under the glove box, pulled out the old filter and inserted the new filter, closed the two clips and was done in less than 5 minutes. Including the time I'd spent online, I spent about 20 minutes for the whole experience and saved a bundle.A great lesson here for two businesses - first for the dealership - if they are to remain competitive, they must change their pricing model and second for the brick and mortar stores - you guys need to catch up with service or you'll be out of business.
