Excellent Audio Design by Sangean
This is a great radio with outstanding audio and very fine broadcast reception. All components appear to be very high quality and the item is packaged for reliably safe shipping and delivery. The linear dial is light green along with the bright green LED indicator and pointer. This unit compares very favorably with my previous radio, an older Tivoli Model One which no longer could receive my favorite Classical station and lost its ability to stay tuned reliably. The wood cabinet and silver face-plate give off an elegant appearance almost like the classic Fisher tuners and receivers of the 1960s (similar to my old Fisher 500T). This Sangean appears to be solidly built and has some heft to its weight. Overall, highly recommended to those who appreciate good audio design and excellent FM reception in a delightfully petite package. 5 stars, A+ quality!

Such quality. Very satisfying to have, use, hear, and see in your room
This is the classic silver-faced version, the one made since 1974. The wood is a medium-dark walnut tone, not the honey-tone of some of their other models. The silver face is a bit dark so it may be best in a bright room. But it looks good in a dark room too, the tuning dial is lighted, and you don't need light to operate the three simple knobs.Hadn't had a Sangean radio or seen one up close so wasn't prepared for what a quality object it is, in looks, operation, and feel. I knew the Sangean brand as a top HDR / short wave / FM brand so I wasn't too surprised how smoothly the knobs work, how easy and simple the operation is, and generally how well it works as a radio. But the quality of the wood cabinet is better than expected, flawless in each of the three Sangean samples I now have. Watch the little Sangean video included in the Amazon listing that shows them making the veneered wood cabinet; it's no wonder Sangean features that little film of their workmanship because it doesn't disappoint in person.Read in reviews here the sound is bassy, and it's somewhat true but at least it's not tinny or boxy. I did some A-B-A testing when it arrived, against similar sized radios and found it to be the best of what I could find, a warm good sound for news/voice and sounds good for classical orchestral music too.

Simple good looking great sounding Radio
Looks great, sounds great. FM reception very good, AM not so great at my location. It did come with an external FM antenna but do external AM antenna. I like the fact that it has no digital display, no Bluetooth, sd cards, usb ports or batteries. A simple radio that fills the room with a deep rich sound.

Best radios
Great sounding radios, but I return this one because the veneer had a "bubble" on the bottom side.

Love it!!!
I wanted a 100% analog radio. Came across this brand and saw that they’ve been around for a long time. This radio is so pretty, has great sound and it’s solid.!! I love the simple design. I highly recommend.!It also brings about a little nostalgia of the radios we had when I was a kid.

Great solid basic radio
I built this Sangean SG-116 radio flush into my bathroom wall so that I can always listen to a particular radio station. I really like that the power on/off switch is not part of the volume control because in my experience volume controls are always what fail first (go noisy) and fail faster if they keep being used to turn the power on/off. The radio is solidly built and quite heavy. It does not have any tone controls but gives a mellow but clear sound that I quite like. It tunes in many stations on its own antenna but using an external wire antenna brings in more stations (in my case 23 FM stations) as it will with any radio. I buried 5 ft of 12 AWG wire in my wall as the antenna; and use a remote 'light' switch to turn power on/off to a power outlet installed behind the radio.
