Best children book ever!
I love the illustrations, so vivid and bigger than life for young ones.I read this to our boys when they young (34 and 36 now) and I’ve bought every baby that’s come along a copy. I’m now gifting our first great niece one for her first birthday.

A definite must for little ones!!
This book, "Quick as a Cricket" is a MUST, along with The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear also by Don & Audrey Woods. These titles have been in my library since my children were toddlers (now in their late 20's), and I buy them as a baby gift anytime a friend is having their first baby or grand baby. Both titles absolutely captivate the children, from as early as 10 mos on. (You have to get the hard copy, the pictures are GORGEOUS, so you'll want the full effect). Without fail I have heard back from everyone that these are their child's favorite books (with "The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear" coming in first). These even stop my now 13 1/2 mos old grand son in his tracks (who stops for nothing and has been on the RUN ever since he started walking at 9mos) - He even gets these books out himself and plops down in mom's lap to read - my daughter, even though these were her favorites too, is absolutely AMAZED at the effect they have on her little Hurricane! You can't go wrong with either of these books! Remember to get the hard copies, not the board books or paperbacks.

Great book
2 yr old LOVES this book. We have read it what seems like a million times (more than 10 times a day some days) and he repeats the story all the time. He loves to roar loud like a lion lolNot to mention the grammatical/linguistic lessons it provides and is super simple at the same time.Highly recommended!!

One of best picture books for children ever
One of best picture books for children ever. My children loved it, and now my Grandchildren can experience it as well. This makes a great bedtime story book for very young babies to early readers. The prose is well written with some rhyming without being tooo much. For the very awake or strong willed child, we have found that reading at bedtime is an important part of the bedtime ritual that helps some children who have difficulty transitioning from daytime to nighttime.

Quick as a Cricket builds confidence
I spent many hours reading this book to my son. The book is full of wonderful illustrations of animals. But, the content of the book feeds a child's imagination and confidence, page after page is full of statements such as " I am as big as a whale. I am as sly as a fox," etc. You cannot help but smile each time as you read it and see a child's face explode with the possibilities of life. My recent purchase was for a baby shower gift, where guests were asked to bring a favorite book to help establish the new little one's library. I didn't hesitate or think about any other titles. This book should be a staple for any child and will bring hours of enjoyment. Also, the type is large enough that it is easy for a child to recognize letters and for a grandparent to easily read.

Classic
I loved this book as a kid and it’s been fun to share with my kids. Nice to talk about emotions and how we can feel all kinds of things at different times or sometimes more than one at a time

A special gem
This is a great book about valuing our uniqueness. I used it to teach a lesson on similes with the children writing simile poems. My class loved it, and so did I! This is definitely one that I will use again and again.

My sons favorite book as a toddler
My sons favorite book as a toddler! He's now 35. I'm sure we read it at least 500 times. To be truthful it was my favorite book to read to him as well. Some reads were just plain fun and laughter. Other times it was a springboard for recognizing, defining and putting a name on so many emotions. I so miss those reads! Recently my son had a son (my first grandchild!) I was so happy when I found this book on Amazon. I immediately ordered it and had it shipped directly to his house. My daughter in law received the package and left the book on the dining room table. When my son came home from work that night and noticed the book he immediately went into a tirade of questions to his wife! "Where did you get this book? How long have we had it? Where did you find it? Have you read it yet?" without giving her enough time between questions to answer! Finally he said he couldn't wait to tell me they had the book at which point my daughter in law told him I had sent it! I guess he remembers the book fondly as well. I can't wait to watch him read "cricket" to his son...or maybe even read it to him myself??? There are two books that are "must haves" for every house with a toddler. One being "I love you Forever" by Robert Munch and "Quick as a Cricket!" These two books will build memories that will last a lifetime. We are living proof of that!

Loved by 2 year old and Parents
The illustrations of this book is what makes it special. They're captivating, beautiful, and fun. It's also a good way to teach opposites (big/small, fast/slow, etc.). I like it because it lets us talk about how sometimes we can be or feel different, depending on the day. My son loves the animals.

Beautiful illustrations and story. Bought this for my son 30 years ago, and still have it, but had to one for my granddaughter too.
