Excellent sharpening method - takes some work to get it just right
Mine came significantly out-of-round, on the order of 1/16". Vibration so bad that the grinder wouldn't stay on the bench.Had to right away true both wheels. Once they were "ground round" and the grit wheel resurfaced all was good and the vibration gone.I don't have any of the more expensive similar products for comparison, so can't make any judgement between them as to initial quality. Also, in my opinion, the wax supplied has too high a melting point for this use. Next time I resurface the grit wheel, will try a lower melting point wax to try to get a more even application.I also flipped my grinder on the base so that the rotation is away from the operator. I'm much more comfortable with that orientation. In the event of a major error, the projectile trajectory would be away from, not towards the operator. In use, the results are spectacular! These will put a shaving sharp edge on a blade in a couple of minutes. As others have said - READ THE DIRECTIONS and follow. I've bee sharpening edge tools for nearly 50 years by hand and by machine - this is the best and quickest method by far that I have used.Do note that it is most satisfactory for blades in otherwise good condition. If you need to restore, reshape or regrind badly neglected blades, you will want to use more aggressive methods to get them in shape to paper wheel sharpen. So, after investing an hour or so to get them tuned up, the result is a great, fast sharpening system. A few hours later, every knife, chisel and plane iron in the house and shop was really sharp.

... building my own wood carving knives and needed a good sharpening system
I bought this set because I just started building my own wood carving knives and needed a good sharpening system. In the month I've had it I've used it several times to sharpen and hone knives. Excellent set for sharpening and keeping you carving tools sharp. The slotted wheel was a little out of round, which is what keeps it from getting five stars. Once I trued up the wheel it was good to go.

save your money
This wheel doesn't work for me. The sanding side is too rough, instantly destroys your blade. The cardboard side hardy does the job. You have to do the pass the blade super fast or you destroy your heat treating.Save your money and invest in other methods.

GOOD BUY
THESE 8' WHEELS WILL FIT ON A 6" GRINDER BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO REMOPVE THE GUARDS .....AND THEY WILL PUT A GOOD EDGE ON A KNIFE ONCE YOU GET THE HANG OF IT...BLADE ANGLE AND DRAW SPEED AND PRESSURE ......THERE ARE BETTER WHEELS OUT THERE BUT FOR THE MONEY AND FOR A DECENT EDGE THESE ARE JUST FINE .....

Paper Wheel Sharpening System
The one inch wide by 8 in wheels work great on my six inch grinder. I knew I was going to have to add spacers beneath the grinder when I ordered the wheels, so I was prepared for that modification. I also turned my Grinder backwards to overcome having to rotate my tools. I use Paper Wheels with mt Wolverine Sharpening system to keep my Wood Lathe Chisels and Woodworking Chisels SHARP.... The two systems together or the PERFECT Sharpening System for my needs.... Additionally I can keep a Razor Edge on the Kitchen, Pocket, and Hunting Knives. I think the Paper Wheels perform exceptionally well and Highly Recommend them.... Be careful of CHEAP IMITATION 3/4 inch wheels, that extra 1/4 inch does make a lot of difference...

Not what expected
The wheel that was suppose to sharpen, only sharpend only 2 knives. I was under the impression that it was suppose to be a stone wheel, it was just layered and now I have 2 cardboard wheels :o( and can't sharpen my knives.

Needs strong grinder.
I put these on a cheap foreign made bench grinder. It barely had enough power to start the wheels turning and stopped when pressure was applied. Will work great on more powerful bench grinder like the DeWalt.
