Q: Is there a difference in quality in the 3pack and the 5pack, The 5pack looks of a lesser quality by it's packaging?

The Hohner Special 20 has always been of the highest quality. Prices vary, but the quality of a Special 20 doesn't. The difference between the three-pack, five-pack, or twelve-pack is the number of keys. nothing more. Hohner offers the Special 20 harmonicas in all 12 major keys. Hohner offers other models, but I think the Special 20 is the best. Some love the Marine Band more. The Marine Bands play great but wear on your tongue if you ask me.

Q: What are the covers made of ?

They come in plastic little boxes...but if your asking about the harps themselves Special 20s have brass reeds, plastic combs, and stainless steel covers on the top and bottom.
