I was surprised at the quality and size of this item. The openings are big enough for my fish to swim in and out of without touching the sides and my algae eaters seem to like the texture of the "bark". It had no odor and the paint seems well-applied and not apt to flake or chip off. A very nice addition to my tank.*Update* I bought a second one of these logs for another tank and this one was a disaster. Within one week of being submerged the paint started coming off - and I don't mean a little fleck. The paint on the entire inside of the log basically dissolved when I took it out to clean it. I don't know why one would be so good and another one so bad but that's my experience. The old one is still perfectly fine.**update** it's now 2024 and the old one is still perfectly fine. I have some pygmy catfish living in it and some snails keep them company.

I like it because it looks very realistic like a real log! Was a perfect addition to my fish tank! The fish love it.

definitely make sure you have some sand paper on hand of youre going to purchase this, the inside edges of the holes are VERY sharp. its not super easy to reach inside of it to sand down those edges even with small hands, but it can be done. other than that i have no complaints! very cute and not a bad price compared to a lot of fish tank decor, and its a good size for my fish tank. if you have larger fish its probably too small for them to fit (i dont think even my black skirt + glo tetras could comfortably use this, i think they would be able to fit but get stuck easily on the side holes if they tried to go through them). but it does have big enough holes that im not worried about my smaller fishies or my african dwarf frogs getting stuck which is a common problem i find in aquarium decor.

I have a tank full of mystery snails....the holes are big...good addition to my tank I might get a few more.

Roku remote for comparison.. the overall appearance of this artificial log is perfect my complaint is the sharp edges on the inside of the log as you can see in picture 2. This log would be perfect for any small animal if it wasn't for the edges. The inside would need to be filed down for there to be no accidents regarding some animals but especially for hard exoskeleton animals like the scorpion I bought this for. A scorpion's exoskeleton is hard and they have many parts that are not flexible so I can only imagine the tail or claw being caught up in the rough edges and my scorpion pulling trying to get free.

These are perfect hides for my tarantulas- they love them!
