Schutt Sports Hard Shell Football Rib Protector

I have broken my ribs a lot in my life from skating, snowboarding, mountain bike riding, and other misc stupid stuff and just severely broke 5 ribs this fall so I decided to look for a solution. I decided to try this out and I have to say am extremely happy with the fit and form. This gives me a little confidence that it will reduce my chances of major injury as it will spread the force of impact out a little more. It fits very well (I am 5'8" and 170lbs) and I do not notice any reduction in movement. It has the secondary benefit of keeping my torso insulated for cold night bike rides and snowboarding. During hotter days I just leave it off until I downhill and then leave it on for the duration of the ride even if I have some climbs since it really doesn't heat up too much.Great product.

Bought these for my son who plays attack for his high school lacrosse team. They fit very well under his shoulder pads and provides great protection for his ribs and spine.

I am 67 years old and do not play football ,but this was not bought to play that game instead it is the game I play with my hunting dogs ,ie field trials Dec 27th 2009 I was ruding my Baja mini bike in the desert trying to set out quail in the bushes for a practice trial for all our 4 dogs . I have bad Osteo in my legs ,and the bike was bought for this purpose of being lite at 105 lbs and I did noty need a trailer as with a quad because it would fit in the back of my truck bed with 2 kennels inside .It must have been a full moon out because the bike hit a rock with its front wheel and went right over the top of me leaving me with a fractured skull and 4 broken ribs and I spent New Years eve in Intensive care ,and it took 1 year to be able to run my dogs again . That was 4 years ago ,and my Osteo is not getting any better ,so I have rebuilt the bike with a new motor /clutch ,but this time I am engineering a set of 20 inch training wheels to stabilize it ,as I have balance issues . This item looks like it will give me rib protection and I will be wearing a brain bucket ,that I should have been wearing the 1st time ,to keep me from brain damage I suffered because I was not wearing . This XL size actually is about 3/4 inches small for me ,but I wear 42 inch pants ,but weight lifted along time ago expanding my rib cage ,so I will keep it ,as my wife sews and extend the 2 clip straps by 3 or 4 inches so they can latch ,and when I get the welding done on the out rigger back wheels finished I will up date this review from out in the desert .Wish me luck !

Using this protector as a rib cage for go kart racing and it has done it's job quite hansomely. I highly recommend this item for purchase.

I haven't taken a hit with it yet but I am 6'1'' 205lbs and it fit pretty nice. I'm a TE and needed something with more mobility, a normal rib guard doesnt let me be all that flexible, so in terms of fit and wearability its pretty nice.

Second size in 4 years we have purchased, could not find any like this in local Dicks in adult sizing not sure why
