Nice Big Display, But Really Annoying Beep
I received a free item to review. The timer takes a single AAA battery and has both a magnet on the back that holds fine to the fridge as well as plastic pull-out stand that holds the time at about a 45 degree angle. The large display is a plus and is clearly easier to read from a distance than my old, smaller Cooks Club timer.Similar button layout and functions: separate seconds and minutes buttons, along with stop/start. But this timer has an on/off slider switch on the side that resets to zero - I find it faster than pressing both minute/second buttons simultaneously to clear - that's iffy design. You can pause the countdown and restart it in place, which is handy if you're into precision and have to turn pieces of food, add ingredients, or generally move things around in-between cooking steps. But the beep is really harsh, loud, and annoying - it's not a constant chirp but a repeating 4-short, pause, 4-short, pause. I get the idea it's supposed to cut through and get your attention - it does - but there's no reason for such an abrasive tone, compared with other timers.I also have to say the pink color is really unattractive and the badly-matched blue buttons don't help.Botton Line: Good as a backup, but for regular use I'll stick with my Cooks Club timer.
